I do the same with the woolwich, i either go into Barclays or go it online because i have the sortcode, account number etc.
because i PAD i sometimes send very small amounts , I phoned to check my balance and he said you have been paying some ridiculously small amounts, i asked if that was a problem he said no.
so i do it all the more now:D
Thanks for these comments guys, I will investigate further.
I am under the impression that the ONLY way to OP is over the phone with a debit card, however I have not asked/tried specifically re. on-line OP via a standing order.
Whilst not wishing to cast aspertions or accuse B of I of anything, I now wonder if they are not volunteering this information and I haven't asked the direct question of OP ing by standing order.
AuntieMabel now on a mission.............0 -
My kitchen is being renovated next week. Two weeks without a kitchen  I'm not looking forward to it!
You've done amazingly well on your kitchen. Mine is costing me a fortune too, and I am still wondering whether I am doing the right thing - I live in flat, and the kitchen will definitely NOT increase the value of the flat to match what it cost. However if I do it now at least I'm getting the benefit, not some random stranger who just happens to buy my flat! There is no way I could sell it with either the current kitchen or bathroom, they are YUK!
Good luck with the renovations, to both of us!!Borrowed £150,000 in an offset tracker mortgage in May 2007 - MFD May 2041 (67)

Hi Sepa,
It will all be worth it in the end (although I do concede it is fairly grim during the proceedings
). I don't think kitchens do really add to the value of houses, they just make the house more saleable if you do decide to sell. We're not thinking of selling, so the kitchen will all be for me me me !!
Have listed a load of stuff on ebay - am sick of it now (hate doing it at the best of times), will do the rest tomorrow whilst it's still free listing.

Hi Guys,
Am in the middle of night shifts so am busy busy busy. When not working or sleeping I am frantically trying to fit in all the other stuff. Like feeding the children.
Nights - nothing like them for producing NSDs! Don't have the time and certainly don't have the inclination
Listed a load of stuff on ebay over the free listing weekend so fingers crossed (£100 profit is my aim).
Sold a lovely practically new boys bike to my friend for £50 on Saturday.
Kitchen progressing slowly but surely. Is looking great. Not spending much on food cos we're eating all the stuff in the freezer that I'd cooked in advance.
Back to the treadmill

Back to the land of the living. Have finished nights til next Monday :j
Only got 3 hours sleep today with the plumber, joiner and electrician working on the kitchen but will have an early night tonight to catch up. Range cooker now in
:D:D. Rest of the kitchen looks like an explosion in a timber yard but definitely moving forward.
Lots of watchers on my ebay stuff and 3 items have bids on them, one of them is something I thought wouldn't sell and only stuck on at the last minute with minimal description. One man's trash is another man's treasure and all that......

Do you do permanent nights?
Hope kitchen really starts to take shape soon, it will be sooo worth it though.June 2025 - part 1 - £19,145 part 2 - £21,973 Total - £41,118 29 months to go!0 -
Yes, I do nights all the time. Am contracted for 22 hours but often do an extra night to cover holidays/sickness etc.
A colleague is retiring in 2 ish years time so will probably increase to 3 nights - 33 hours then. No chance of more permenant hours til then. Timing will suit me as all 3 of my boys will be at senior school by then, so easier re school pick ups and me getting more sleep!
Have just come back from giving blood. When I was having my tea and biccies afterwards the lady asked me if I would like some packets of digestive biscuits as only students ever eat them and she wanted rid of them! I came away with a box of 20 packets of 3 digestive biscuits!!

Last time I gave blood they practically made me eat the biscuits. I thought i'd save resources but that obviously isn't a concern of theirs!
I think nights are great as long as they suit you and your body is used to them. I don't sleep well in the day so I am not a fan but luckily haven't worked a single one since I qualified a year ago.June 2025 - part 1 - £19,145 part 2 - £21,973 Total - £41,118 29 months to go!0 -
