:hello: Hello AuntieMabel. I am new to MFW too.
Well done for your huge OP. Now even your ordinary payments will be taking more off the capital because there will be less interest to pay.
If you make a mistake (like putting on your extra 0) you can go back and edit your post by clicking the "edit" button just underneath it. It appears on your own posts in the same place where the "thanks" button appears when you are reading other people's posts.
You asked how to cross things through in your sig. When you edit your sig, you will see two rows of buttons across the top of the box. The first row has fonts and stuff. The second row begins with bold and italic. At the far end of that second row is the strikethrough button. Highlight the text you want to cross out, and click that button.

I'm really annoyed :mad::mad:!
Not taking away any of the fabness of written proof of my latest over payment, the mortgage statement has come from Bristol & West today and they have completely ignored the 2 things I expressly asked them to do. The first being NOT to reduce the monthly payments despite the OP, the second being to enclose a mandate to make a regular OP by standing order. Over the phone, they said it was no problem but they've done neither!!! The other thing that has really rattled my cage is that over the years we have always been able to give them an instruction regarding monthly payments (whether up or down) over the phone, but now we can't, we have to request a form WHICH THEY THEN DON'T SEND. Grrrrr
I'm going to have to calm down before I phone them otherwise I may well say something I will regret.0 -
How infuriating of them. Hope you get them to sort it out quickly.
Once you've got your standing order set up, will you be able to change it just by dealing with your current account bank (ideally online) or will you have to go through the whole requesting a form rigmarole again if you want to adjust your amount?Starting again 13/4/19Home loan 1: £21,102.50 Home loan 2: £7,698.99Total owed: £28,801.49

After I calmed down a bit, I spoke to an extremely calming, pleasant chap at Bristol & West and got it all sorted out. There are 2 sections to our mortgage (as in my signature) and it's sub account 2 at 2.99% we are concentrating on first as it's the higher SVR. I know for sub account 1 that monthly OP are allowed and can be done over the phone as are changes to the regular payment as I've done them. Today I found out that I had been wrongly informed that this also applied to sub acount 2 :mad: which is why they hadn't sent out a mandate. It's not all bad though, I can make regular OP to sub account 2 over the phone by debit card but the regular payment will always reduce - this is one of the terms. So that's what the plan is - at least £500 OP to sub account 2 every month.
I've put it in print now so I've got to do it or I've got to explain myself to you lot
Have made my first amendment to my sig as well - fab

Well, it's an irritation that you can't set it up so the payment is bigger automatically, but as long as they let you make OPs then it shouldn't make any difference to how quickly you can clear the debt - just the number of phone calls you have to make along the way. I'm glad the bloke at B&W has sorted it for you.
Well done on amending your sig - you're getting the hang of this quickly.

Well, that's the end of my first week as a MFW. I have really found new focus, paid £11000+ off the mortgage from ISAs, discovered lots of new, likeminded chums and watched a royal wedding

Hope every wek is this good
