TESCO...Is this discrimination??

Perhaps the reason that there are so many "one post wonders" as you call them is down to posts like yours and some others on here. Like I said it costs nothing to be nice and frankly more people would contribute and be better informed if they weren't mocked for doing so.
I am sure you can appreciate how frustrated people get when you repeatedly ignore the good advice you are given.Gone ... or have I?0 -

If that is the case I do not understand the question. Buy the cheaper product if they are both the same.
From how I see it though, the products are not identical though, one is a boys bike and one is a girls bike. If they were identical, they would be the same spec and colour. As they are different colours, they are different products.
They clearly have not sold enough boys bikes so have reduced the price and have them on clearance to shift them, they have sold enough girls bikes and do not need to reduce the price.
I think the OP needs to get a life and shop elsewhere if she thinks Argos is too expensive. ne is on offer and the other is not. Argos had a great girls bike for £45, my son's was £40. Both are currently in the shed as they are getting them for Easter presents - go and look in Argos instead.
Being 'outraged' is such a waste of energy!!0 -
a private supermarket cannot be guilty of discrimination in this way. they could have a tin of beans for 25p, and the next tin marked at £100, because thats the price for that specific tin.
we are simply used to a one price fits all culture and tho it sometimes goes against our advantage, we have all seen glitches that are in our favour.
in short, get over yourself.Target Savings by end 2009: 20,000
current savings: 20,500 (target hit yippee!)
Debts: 8000 (student loan so doesnt count)
new target savings by Feb 2010: 30,0000 -

Apple are the worst. Black Macbooks are more expensive than white ones, why? Because they are black, people will pay more to be seen as having an elitist product.
Companies charge what they can get away with, thats how they make money.
Sounds to me that the OP was upset they couldnt get a cheap bike, well there are loads of shops out there not just Tesco!0 -

the only post i've tried to ignore are one's that ridicule, it's a waste of everyone's time to have to trawl through this nonsense to find what's useful and what's not and I'm am grateful to those who have politely responded whatever the point of view and I haven't rejected anyone's good advice, but I am frustrated at some of the less helpful posts on here.
I am clearer with regard to the law in this matter from posts but quite astonished by the reaction of some posters on a website that built it's reputation on challenging what seems unfair.0 -

The Black Macbooks actually had a higher spec than the White ones, they didn't just charge more because it was Black. Doesn't matter now anyway as they haven't sold Black Macbooks for years now.0 -

According to Robert H Frank in "The Economic Naturalist" the price difference was £120 more for the black machines in Nov 2007, and they had an extra 40GB hard disk space. The price of the hard drive upgrade in the white machines was only an extra £50 though, leaving an equivalent price difference of £70.If you think of it as 'us' verses 'them', then it's probably your side that are the villains.0 -
While I can't be bothered to read this thread all the way through as most people have found to question to be ridiculous. The shop is entitled to sell and order whatever they want at whatever price they want. IF however you took the boys bike to the till with your daughter and they said they have to charge the girls price for the bike (despite the fact they are two diffrent products) then yes that would give a good case for discrimination.0

If that is true, then why don't you buy the cheaper one?0 -
Buy the boys bike and put some flowery stickers on with the £80 you've saved.
Not meaning to sound sarastic or anything. I understand you must be annoyed about it. I would be.There's a storm coming, Mr Johnson. You and your friends better batten down the hatches, because when it hits, you're all gonna wonder how you ever thought you could live so large and leave so little for the rest of us.0
