    Big Brands for Less
Here's another one for the list, not tried them yest so can't comment on the quality or service. This company was established on 18/11/10 they have a shop in Bridgewater but the website is more recent.

Although its not strictly a short dated site it may be worth adding http://www.rosspa.co.uk to the list as their prices are comparable to a certain extent.

I myself use all 4 lots and have done for a few years, here is my opinion and experiences on them.

    Approved Food
    - these carry the most variety of stock and get lots of new items in everday. While they are cheap, I have noticed of late, they have put their prices up a lot. I would recommend and they are good with customer services.

Big Brands for Less - when they were running their 200% extra free, it was an amazing offer. I buy the odd things off them when they run their promotions, otherwise i have most of their stock in my cupboards.

Food Bargains - I have gotten some of my best bargains off them, but they are few and far between these days and I personally find them not much better than the shops, although people are raving about their Lucky boxes. I still check them out on a regular basis.

Swinco - this is where I have been doing most of my shopping lately. They do not carry the range that Approved Food do, but I tend to bulk buy certain items, as they are usually very cheap, in fact cheaper than AF lately. One example at the moment Tortillas Swinco 25p for 8, Approved Food 79p for 6. There are a few examples like this.

My favourites are Approved Foods and Swinco, Swinco is unpopular with some members of Approved, but I have only had exceptional service from them, as I have with all of them. Food bargains are a nightmare if you need a refund, don't know if they are any better now.

Hi, yes there is a misconception about food dates. As far as I am aware, its illegal to sell foods past its use by date. This would be put onto things that perish, like meat, fish, dairy, etc. Best before dates are merely that, a guestimation that it will taste better before a certain time. I buy pasta, tins, rice in packs and you can't tell any difference. I have even bought crisps that have been out of date by a few months which are fresh as a daisy, otherwise i would not buy them. If it were not for these clearance places, I would not have cupboards full to the brim (too full actually), hence my new grocery challenge, to use up stocks.

Does anyone else find the Swinco website really hard to use. I get error messages all the time. Gave up trying to order a few months back for this reason and finally ordered yesterday but massive problems getting the order and payment through.

My SIL also said she gave up trying to place an order a couple of months back. Shame as they have some good things on. Probably have stock cos lots give up trying like we did!

Sounds great, But I see a couple off pitfalls

1.) Nutritious vaules will become less accurate over the sale by date

2.) Who misses out on these great foods. I know alot of suppermarkets despense and give alot off food to Zoo's, Homeless, Pet Shelters etc etc.

For the price's is still seems expensive when you tally up the delivery charge.. for the products that are short dated tend to be more pricey then the best before.. almost failing to undercut supermarket specials. It's pretty lousy if this is as good as it gets. Alot of the foods seem to be junk & convience foods which most likley wouldn't tend to buy by the case inless your tailing your diets based on what's currently in stock from one week to the next. I guess what it all comes down to is profits, me personally I wouldn't choose to let them into the market some of the prices I've conveyed are pretty shoddy giving the circumstances.

Just how much or how long can these products hold their full nutrition & energy vaules. Half the price - half the nutrition = no save

You can bet they hold out on ALOT off the good stuff, and probaly distribute accross other networks that they're likley to make more profits.. Boo clearance stores.. get better products and better pricing then we talk business.

98% of this stuff fails to beat wholesale price plus its out off its best before date.... which is bound to be less nutritious then when its in date overall lacks quality I don't see the products I'm generally intreasted in or the popular sellers like chewing gum or haribo so where do they hide these.. They must get them but sell them high price to someone else. Alot of it is junk the stuff that does appeal can be picked up/found cheaper in pound shops or supermarket specials
