I found this old thread searching for info on coveredlearnerdriver.com
I've been considering going down this route for a relative learning to drive (sorry about the pun!)
Was wondering whether anyone has experience of these policies, like do they pay up and do they meet the legal requirements for car insurance?
If there's any problem the car owner could be fined for aiding and abetting.
I also can't see how the learner driver can insure someone else's car in their own name. As a general rule you can't insure someone else's property in your name, for obvious reasons.
Any comments appreciated.0 -

We used collingwood anual, all I can tell you is it was the only insurance on the car, taken out by the vehicle owner, it shows on askmid, will let you tax the car, and I'm very pleased to say we have no idea at all if it pays out.
You do have to be 17 to take it out, (even if it's 12:01 in the morning), you can drive at 12:10 when you've finished and paid, and it cancels when you pass, but you get a full pro rata refund.0
