    Exactly my thoughts.

This is the kind of attitude that is ruining society.

If they had bought solely because of the advert I could understand.

But they went to the dealer, spotted a car they liked, test drove it, poked it, looked over it, then a week later they look at the out of date advert online and because of an error that they had no knowledge about and didn't want to know about then they want a four figure compensation claim.

What proof do they have that the details where inaccurate before sale?

    Exactly, none.

The advert could have been taken down and was meat to be amended by somebody and put back up to show another car in stock but they didn't do it correctyl and left some of the details unchanged.

People like the OP are one reason why i am glad not to be in the trade anymore, as they used to get on my goat. And considering I have been out for over a decade it shoes you how annoying these types of people are.

I had a similar problem with Arnold Clark, I test drove a car and paid deposit and went to collect the following week, only for them to give me the keys to a lower model. I noticed straight away and complained. I knew they never had a leg to stand on and it was clear they were trying to give me a cheaper car but wanted me to pay for the higher model. The salesman admitted that I ordered the SXI 1.4 with AC and not the 1.2 without. I told him that I would cancel the agreement as I was mis-sold a car and I didn't care if I lost my deposit.

He offered me the car at the correct price with 2 years free insurance a full tank of petrol, foot rugs, roady safety stuff and the boot shelf they removed when they thought I wasn't looking. And I also told them to remove there yellow stickers with there name on it. Why should I advertise there product for free when there name is on the plates already. Albeit I drove away a happy bunny, thank god I had my wits about me and read posts on here before purchasing my car.

Your situation is very different to the OP's.

Though how you could buy the wrong used car is confusing, did they change the reg no aswell?

Your position, as I have said is different.

The OP testdrove and liked the car he bought, simples.

Still not sure how they could make a mistake like the one you have mentioned with a used car? Was your a new car them?

My car was brand new. They tried it on as it was one the last remaining models before the plate change.

I don't know where you are getting a used car from perhaps you have not read my post correctly. I test drove a brand new car and paid the deposit and its when I went to pick up the car I saw they were trying to palm me of with the lower spec, hence I said similar.
It's better to regret something I did do than to regret something that I didn’t. :EasterBun

Thanks, I didn't want them to be honest, I would rather have some cash as I now have two insurance payments to make, already claimed and could not cancel my old policy and already took another out, mad I know but it was all new to me.

?What's this got to do with the mirrors on the car you have bought not being as per advertised?

Sounds like Arnold Clark have admitted their error and have tried to appease you - they've also fixed your parking sensors without quibbling.

Why would you try to claim for 'compensation'? - get real; seems to me like everyone sees any opportunity as a reason to screw businesses; no wonder anything and everthing cost's so much these days. :(

When you test drove the car, why did you not raise this issue then?
The greater danger, for most of us, lies not in setting our aim too high and falling short; but in setting our aim too low and achieving our mark

I'm sure he read your post just fine, as you didn't actually say you were test driving a "brand new car" in your post.
