Can I get SKy Broadband with a BT line?

Hi all. On Monday I signed up to BT to get line rental in a flat I've just bought after renting it for a year. The past year I've had BE internet and they've been great. However the price has gone up to £13 a month (from £7.50). BE have just cancelled my connection as I've changed my number with BT. I now have the option of sticking with BE and trying to haggle them or change providers.
I've just seen a deal on the SKY website:
http://www.sky.com/shop/broadband-only?affiliate=true&DCMP=AFC-100908
It gives me unlimited internet with Skytalk freetime for £10 a month. Am I able to get this with a BT line installed? Or do I need to get line rental from SKY too? I'm getting free evening and weekend calls with BT and SKY offer this too. Can I get the SKY package and have their free calls too?
Apologies if it sounds complicated but I'd really appreciate some help. Or even if people know better deals out there.
Many thanks.Josh

all sky subscriptions MUST be with a bt line, they have only recently brought in their own line service. we pay 15 quid for sky broadband, talk, and tv and the bt line rental is a seperate 12 quid.Target Savings by end 2009: 20,000

You can have Sky Broadband with a BT Line with no problem.
I have it at home.
Haggle, Haggle, Haggle with sky, they will bend over backwards to get your custom.make the most of it, we are only here for the weekend.
and we will never, ever return.0 -
Thanks for the quick reply guys. So it's ok that BT are giving me free calls and so are SKY?
Dave: That's a great deal you're getting with SKY. Broadband, Talk and TV?! Did you phone up and haggle with them or was it off a website?0 -
Yes, you can get Sky Broadband and Calls with a BT line. You will still get a line rental bill from BT and your broadband and call charges (if you decide to move to them) will be from Sky.
Just one thing to check though - Sky broadband at the advertised £10 / £5 deals is not available to everyone - it depends on whether they have the required connections at your local BT exchange - otherwise their broadband is about £17 a month (we found this out when we moved and couldn't get the £5 deal we prev had because of this - so we moved to BE)Feb 2015 NSD Challenge 8/12JAN NSD 11/16

I just had a long chat with a chat advisor on the Sky website. After much talking he offered me SKY Broadband, Talk and TV. I would pay only £15 for installation. I wanted all the Sports channels too. So he offered me a first month payment of £47.25 if I take the Sports package and at least one Entertainment package. But then I could cancel the Entertainment package after the first month and only pay £27.25 for the remaining 11 months which would include the Sports channels.
What do people think about this deal? Is it any good? The Broadband says up to 20mb unlimited. But I think I would only receive around 5mb.

You rent the line from BT, any chargeable calls would be billed by sky.
I need to find out what happens with that 12 month free call thing BT keeps rolling me over with, as I would rather ditch them and move to elsewhere for calls.0 -
What is the free call thing BT keep rolling you over with? Do they charge you?
What to people think about the deal SKY have given me? IS it good value? The cost altogether, including BT line rental, would be £40 a month.0 -
First thing you need to do is check your contract with BT,as you've only just signed up I bet you've agreed to a 12 month contract for rental/calls in which case you cannot transfer your calls to Sky without paying BT a cancellation fee.
You cannot use BT and Sky for calls at the same time,it's one or the other.
Whilst it's a good idea taking the Sky calls pack to get £5 off broadband, if you don't make the minimum calls via BT(which you couldn't with Sky as all calls are routed via Sky)there are charges to be paid.
If you're not under contract with BT then you can use Sky for calls with BT line rental or Sky line rental0 -
Do you know how much the cancellation fee would be Steve?
What do you think my options are now? What broadband package would you suggest? Could I try and negotiate with BE?0 -
if your getting more channels than basic tv, 40 quid is fine. ours was 55 quid with 4 or 5 extra entertainment packs, when i deleted those, they offered 50% off for 6 months with no further 12 month tie in.
take what they have offered, then after your 12 months get the discount thereafter.
if you run over your bb limit, they will charge you an extra £5 for unlimited, but their wireless broadband works very well, very quick with no glitches.Target Savings by end 2009: 20,000
