Oh dear you're in the wars again Jackieglasow, I think you should consider some of the football gear that US soccer chaps wear in your house.Bouncing down the stairs is not good for anyone.
Anyhoo Good morning everyone.I was up fairly early this morning and had just settled down to read through the site when my phone went and it was my DGS Danny
    Dan 'Are you up Granny'
    Me 'Yes what's wrong ?
Danny 'Suspect package at the station, trains have all stopped '
Me 'No worries I'll take you on to Gillingham (next station down the line)
Danny (very unconvincingly ) No its O.K.
Me 'Don't be daft walk around to my house (I live two minutes away from the station)and I'll take you.
Danny ,cheering up instantly 'O.K. I'll be there '.By the time I got downstairs he was bless him.He panics if he's late for work as he is quite concientious.Upshot was I was out airing the streets before 8.00.a.m. so on the way home I saw that Aldi's had just opened so nipped in and got a lovely large iceberg lettuce and some soft philly-type cheese for £1.28.Saves me fighting through the throngs over the week-end.So no more shopping for me this side of the holiday.DD rang me yesterday and said she was in her local MMorrisons and they had value pasta at 9p for 500gms so I got her to get me 4 bags plus there were some pasta sauce mixes Cross & Blackwells reduced from 79p to 48p so she got two of those as well so my shoping bill is really cheap this week 2 kilos of pasta and two pasta sauces for £1.30.I shall share the pasta with my youngest DD at the week-end as the boys would eat pasta 7 nights a week if they could and she does go through quite a bit. But I can use the rest for me as I love pasta salad for lunch.I'm off to look for some different things I can mix in with the pasta for a change, any ideas anyone ? .
Hope you all have a good day the sun is blazing down already and I shall be looking after my three youngest grandsons this afternoon as my son-in-law has to go into work to have an afternoon learning how to do interviews, he is being made redundant after 22 years in the same job. His firm have come up with the idea that setting up seminars to show folk how to apply for jobs they haven't got,how is it going to help him find other employment I have no idea .He is worried sick, as with five kids and a mortgage, and at 40 he is worrying where he will get other employment . He designs road systems for the local county council so its quite a specialised job he has, but its going to vanish in the 'reconstruction' of the council. But we will all pull together and hopefully he will find something.
    Take care all

Been working hard to sort it, have been lurking on DFW and attempting the £5 a day challenge, so loads of stuff on e bay and gumtree, also been doing surveys and stuff on the cashback sites, i've also got a big pot of coppers but I hear the rate to put into one of those machines is 9p/£1 is that right?! That's nearly a packet of noodles:eek:

I've also found nearly 18 euros don't know if I can exchange these for sterling anywhere? Any advice very much appreciated. Sadly any money earnt won't be spent on any debt for now but it would be lovely to have some to get some food in!!

    x

Morning, I would sort all the copper into its nominations, and go and pay it into your account, those machines to take a fair wack in percentage, also your bank will probably change your euros, but may charge a bit, xx

    Morning all,

Lovely day again here :j, OH has gone to the boot sale, and dd is still in bed, so all peaceful.

We have had such a good week, we decided that as we could not afford to go away, we would pretend that we were in a holiday let, and do touristy things :D, its been great, and we are so relaxed, normally finish our day by having tea and cake in a tea room :rotfl:not good for my diet but nice, we are doing a couple of jobs in the morning, then off out, today we will have a walk around the local really old town, then walk along the river bank to a tea room :)

We cleaned the conservatory roof yesterday morning, you would not believe the gunk that came off, and the difference it makes to the light.
Today I need to hoover through, sort out the fridge, I would then like to nip to the bank to pay a cheque in, and drop some stuff at the tip, then we are off out :D

Dinner tonight is something with chips, and I might make a banoffee pie later with dd, we seem to have a load of banannas.

Hugs to all in need xx

miecherox Forgot to say, yes take the coppers to any bank you hold an account with, I would put them in smaller lumps i.e. £3-4, as they can get shirty if more and not paying into an account. DG

    Hello all,

Wow, posting on the Daily two days in a row!! I keep telling myself I must do better, both with keeping up with the Daily, and posting a bit more often.:o

Before I forget, posi-vibes for Bargainbirds's DH for the interview.

Miecherox, do you know anyone going to Europe for their hols? Offer to let them have your 18 Euros in exchange for the equivalent in Sterling, perhaps? Once when we were in Belgium, one of the hotel staff had been given a £10 note as a tip, so we happily exchanged it for her, as we were returning home the next day. Just a thought.:o

Jackieg, will you please take a drop more water with it woman?:D OK, joking aside, I hope you're not too badly hurt/shaken up.:o

Thankyou all for the lovely birthday wishes. We were going to go for a meal out last night, but after we'd been into town in the afternoon (Mr LW got himself 2 new shirts for work - exciting, eh?) I'd completely run out of spoons, so we didn't go. But not to worry - a raincheck is fine with me.;) It seems that now, one outing a day is all I can manage.

I was interested to see on yesterday's thread about people eating intuitively; we do a sort of cross between that and meal planning - I have an Excel sheet with all the days on, and a column with anything happening that day (like Mr LW's shifts, for example), and I meal-plan for a few days ahead, in red, which means that meal can be changed at will, or in blue, meaning it's definitely what we're having. That way, I can see when I've got to do something to last 2 days (like when Mr LW's on late shift, we just want to nuke and eat, iyswim). It probably sounds a bit convoluted, but we find it works for us, and if I'm feeling too poorly to cook, we can just swap a couple of days round to put an easy meal that day, and we still keep to what we have available.

Anyways, I've rambled on enough - ought to go and check my email, I suppose. Also, I have to renew the insurance on my mobility scooter, so I'd better do that also.:o

Morning All - not been around for past two weeks! I tend to log out of everything when DS is here as he uses my laptop too. Then of course I can never remember all my various passwords! However, I found this one eventually - last time I sent it to myself in an email!
jackieO - your family are so lucky to have you around - your DGS knew he needn't really worry about the train this morning didn't he?
JackieG - hope you're OK after your tumble.
BB - add my good wishes to your DH for the interview too.
Guess life has moved on for all of you in the past fortnight, so will just offer congratulations or ((HUGS)) as appropriate - do take which you prefer!
Have really enjoyed having DGD here - at 4 and a half she's really interesting these days. DH and I are still trying to declutter the loft ready for the insulation, he reckons we've cleared about half! My role is to stand at the bottom of the ladder and catch whatever he throws down...and then sort and throw away. So far I reckon we've kept maybe one small cardboard box full, and we've visited the tip every other day! Why oh why did we ever just get into the habit of putting stuff up there?
Food bill has rocketed over the past two weeks - I tend to buy extras "just in case". Then, you've guessed it, the fridge becomes full of out of date pork pies, scotch eggs, etc. I feel a real economy challenge coming on after Easter! OH well, must decide what we're all eating today. Take care All.

    Afternoon all

Jackie - just take it steady, hope you're ok x

Now on days off, yesterday turned into a bit of a nightmare, took my car to the garage Tues eve and collected courtsey car, so mine could be serviced and MOT'd yesterday. DH came home in our other car (4x4) weighs about 2 tonne. He goes to out to car yesterday morning, absolutely nothing, can't get into car key fob seems to be working but can't get the car unlocked and it has an immobiliser too! This of course, is parked on the driveway in front of the garage, where yes you guessed it I put the courtsey car - so we have 2 cars both at home and can't use either! Finished up ringing breakdown service who send a man and a stupid "noddy" van, he says he can't do anything, so then sends for a flat bed pick up truck that is capable of taking the weight of our vehicle. All in all my husband eventually got to work at 11am after vehicle recovered to the garage. I was lucky enough that dad was coming to take boys fishing for the day so he gave me a lift to work, then I taxi'd home and then got courtsey car out of the garage. Mine passed MOT, after fuel leak had been discovered and rectified and we're £144 lighter, should be getting other car back this afternoon and will be around £200-£250 lighter for that one - wouldn't mind but that was serviced and MOT'd last week and we parted with £300 then!!

Anyway enough of car talk, DS2 gone for sleepover at SIL's, he may come back tomorrow or Saturday morning. DS1 has been helping with the decorating, will be pushing on with this shortly.

Went to bed at 8pm last night, had a funny head, slept until 2.30am then got up and went back to bed at 4.30am and slept then until 6.30am, feel fine today, yesterday was a bit stressful so think it was just down to that as feel fine today.

Not really achieving much at the moment, have a huge pile of ironing to do and just CBA'd to get on with it, need a good kick up the a**e to get motivated. Dinner tonight will be HM cheese and bacon quiche, hot new potatoes, side salad etc.

Now need to get motivated and do something......!

Keep safe and well everyone, have a great Easter and enjoy the sun x

Afternoon everyone, more lovely sunshine eh? jackieg hope you're okay and good luck to hubby BB.

Have been up ages getting stuff done, went on a lovely five mile walk(took the scenic route through the parks!) to pick up a parcel, buy some paper and sign up for the Birmingham Be Active scheme which will let me go swimming and use gyms for free at certain times of day :j I've almost finished my application for a summer research program, then I'll start on the six hours of uni assignments I've planned for today eeeeeek!!

I'm staying with my family for a week and just saw my sister go to put almost a whole meals worth of veg egg fried rice in the bin because she cooked too much and just didn't want it
I went mental and made her put it in a tupperware box :rotfl: she can have it for lunch tomorrow or my dad will eat it after work.
