Hi, this is the Daily Thread for Thursday 21st April). This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!

As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or slow internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred.

When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.

Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “hi everyone, hope everyone’s well” type start does just as well.

Morning all
BB I'll keep everything crossed for your DH.
Hubby got home about 7:30 yesterday after visiting his brother, he feels better having seen him himself, Dr's will keep him in HCU for another week, but I expect BIL will discharge himself before then!
Hubby's been dropped at the station with his packup, DW unloaded & reloaded, another load of hand washing is about to go on the line, fish fed & breakfast eaten.
Plans for today include a visit from DD1 with the foster children, making biscuits for them, I made a cottage pie yesterday for DD to take home, watering the garden & doing a bit more on my wedding dress.
Have a good day everyone.
Hugs Hester

Hi everyone and belated Happy Birthday to Lame Wolf and Sunnyday - hope you both had great days!

Lovely sunny start again here today.

Today we are visiting friends for coffee and cakes so that will be a nice break from working on the house.

Spoke to the boys and their families on Skype yesterday - I'm still not sure when we can plan our trip back to the UK. We're still waiting on some red tape and I was hoping that it would be sorted out yesterday, but it seems we were wrongly advised. Everything that's ever been said about French red tape is true - it's horrendous and it never stops! The worst thing is that it is keeping us here while we wait for it to be sorted out by people who never treat anything as remotely urgent.

OS-wise, dinner will be pork chops and roasted veg, so that will be easy - the chops in the Remoska and the veg in the oven and minimal use of pots and pans.

I hope the sun is shining for you all.

    Morning all!

Woke up early again, and didn't even fall asleep that early last night, still it's quite nice to have the house to myself for a couple of hours before the troops awaken!

Have S&S the kitchen, loaded DW with bits that were generated after dd3 had done it last night, put on a couple of chooks to roast, bunged on bm for rolls to go with aforementioned chicken. Need to put some washing away, find some more to put on and hang out, sort big pile of paperwork in my room - most is prob junk, do a spot of gardening and planting out, and go to see the midwife for my check up, then I shall go to work!

Hope everyone has a good day xxx

    Morning all.

BB hope your dh interview goes ok.

HH hope your bil continues to recover well. Watched superscrimpers with a bit more enthusiasm last night, in the knowledge that they must have some sense to have asked you on the show.... really hope that happens!

I intend to be much more productive today. Finding it hard to get out of a 'lazy' rut. Have to do some stuff in the garden, and must must must get up to the allotment. Been offered some chicken wire and pallets from freecycle to make a fence to keep the pesky deer at bay.

Haven't been keeping up with flylady, just been doing bits as and when. Think it's to do with the kids being off. At least I have been doing more things with them, so that has been a better use of my time.

Only have a tenner left for groceries this month, but have managed quite a few no spend days the past week, so now I just need to put some time into doing a good meal plan for the next week and a proper short shopping list. Have bits and pieces of meat and fish in the freezer and pasta in the cupboard, so I should be able to buy a few basics and some fruit and veg and get away with it hopefully.

    Have good days all.

    Good morning peeps,
Yet again a gorgeous morning - so much easier to get going.

Dinner tonight is steak or hm crumbed chicken breast with peppercorn sauce, wedges & salad. We are having visitors so DD1 and family will join us again. We will be 12.

Continuing house and garden clearance. Did a lot in the garden yesterday so need to do more inside today. Lots of clutter to find homes for.

Have a happy Thursday everyone, hugs to all who want or need, Silver x

ps belated wishes for LW and SD :bdaycake:

    Morning All,

been trying to keep up with everyone over the last few days but been so busy my feet haven't touched the floor!

[STRIKE]HH[/STRIKE] So pleased to hear bil is doing better.

Well the hard times still follow us at miecherox towers, so skint but battling on! down to our last few meals and they're becoming increasingly interesting,:o

Been working hard to sort it, have been lurking on DFW and attempting the £5 a day challenge, so loads of stuff on e bay and gumtree, also been doing surveys and stuff on the cashback sites, i've also got a big pot of coppers but I hear the rate to put into one of those machines is 9p/£1 is that right?! That's nearly a packet of noodles:eek:

I've also found nearly 18 euros don't know if I can exchange these for sterling anywhere? Any advice very much appreciated. Sadly any money earnt won't be spent on any debt for now but it would be lovely to have some to get some food in!!

I also took the bull by the horns and have decided to tell my employers to go whistle - I cannot be doing with the hassle and stress of fighting for any kind of tribunal also while i'm on sick I only receive statutory sick pay and it's just crippling us what with the house move etc.

Sooooo me and bump went out and got ourselves some temporary work elsewhere, they know i'm pregnant, I told them before I even met them walked in with nothing and walked out with 22 hours work starting next week. No benefits as just locum work but I'm just going to keep at it till I feel i can't then claim maternity allowance (not the SMP I would have got but time to let it go:mad:)

As for the house  that's all I have to say!!!!

Hugs to all hope the sun shines on your day

    Morning all!

Another nice day in prospect here.

Happy birthday for yesterday for Lamewolf and Sunnyday. Hope you both had a lovely time!

Hester-hope your BIL recovers quickly. Hugs to all who need them.

I have been mia much of the time DD has been home from Japan after the earthquake and tsunami. She went back yesterday evening and hopefully has just landed at Narita airport in Tokyo. She has been looking forward so much to seeing her husband after coming home for a bit of a rest as the aftershocks were freaking her out. It was lovely to see her for nearly five weeks and she looked so well after this sunshine we have been having.

The house is a tip as she has been sleeping on the sofa bed in the sitting room and we have been out and about! I have loads of ironing, OH has been planting seeds and they are all over the kitchen worktop......We went away for a few days last week and DS forgot to put out the recycling so there is a pile of cardboard on the worktop. Need to wash DD's beddng and change our beds......! Our summer clothes are all out of their vacuum bags and winter ones need to go in.

Well it has been lovely to have DD home and now back to normal. Best crack on now!

Take care all and enjoy the sunshine.
