Ye it's for a 1 bedroom flat, the flat we were gong to rent is private rented 2 bedrooms and is 345 a one bedroom flat private rented is about 325 in this area
Right now you are going to have a problem. You have to pay the difference between £280 and £345 yourself from benefits and earnings but increasing your earnings by either of you will cause you to lose more JSA then eventually to lose HB and CTB at 85%. You may get Tax credits to help survive but you'll then lose them at 41%. Then there is tax and NI to pay so you'll need to earn quite a lot just to cover the £65 per month shortfall. It's only £15 per week so not really that much to cause hardship.

What I'm trying to say is if you earn £15 more per week and you'll lose £14 in benefits.
    :footie:
:p Regular savers earn 6% interest (HSBC, First Direct, M&S) :p Loans cost 2.9% per year (Nationwide) = FREE money. :p

Wow MJ don't think Ian Duncan Smith would understand that never mind an unaware OP
Forums can be/are a good guide to entitlement and it is good practice to back it up with clarification from the relevant department/specialist with written confirmation to safeguard yourself.

Remind me when love went out of fashion? :o
    Gone ... or have I?
  • We don't live together at the moment, I live with my parents and he rents his own place. We have only been together a year so there is no rush for us to move in together.

I don't think the fact that he would have no money at all, so I would have to pay for everything would be good for our relationship.

So you have as a couple rented the new flat and then you are leaving him to pay for it all because you are expected to claim as a couple?

Now thats shallow and even after being a regular reader of this board for yonks this is low, not only have you shafted him you have shafted the LL.
  • No he already private rents he is just moving to a new house by his own choice as he would be if we were together or not. It is only him that has applied for the new house it is not in both our names. He has asked me how I would feel about moving in with him this is why I asked this question to see how it would work if I was to move in with him.

I don't think he would be happy having to rely on me for money either, he works in the building trade and usually earns over 1000pcm but most the work is temporary so he has to sign on in between jobs

Sunnyone i dont think the OP has shafted anyone. How about the Ops boyfriend taking responsibility for his own actions and choices or has that gone completely out of fashion.
