Your getting soft in your old age. You clearly know that Paypal is your best friend now & filing "Item-Not-Received" claims is the only highlight to your day..

    :rotfl:

I'd rather just get the goods and not have to bother with claims and persuing an unwilling seller.

As it now transpires not to have been sent when I was originally told I will leave it until after the Easter break and hopefully it will be here and I won't have to worry, it might even turn up today.

But you may have to wait a couple of months to get something from China!

    Usually about a week.
I've bought from china and had it arrive faster than uk stuff bought on the same day.

Yes I know I can get my money back, but knowing your seller is likely to prove difficult is never a good thing and no, I do not expect to wait several weeks for my goods.

    I'm with Sooln.
I don't buy off ebay just to keep sellers in business. I buy because I want something, and I do actually expect delivery in a normal timescale, as from any other internet supplier.

I must admit posting late is always annoying, but then, I would not consider eBay for urgent purchases.

If you sell with the same attitude, that's why buyers are leaving.

Maybe the next change you'll see to protect buyers is chucking off sellers with INR disputes, or raising the bar on dsr's.

I'm obviously posting in a very poor manner if my posts read that I wanted it next day, I have not said that anywhere at all.

We get threads on here from sellers moaning that buyers had not contacted them in a reasonable time to say their goods had not arrived, so I thought it polite to let them know after 2 weeks that I was still waiting.

As it turned out I was told originally it was posted on one day, and then found out it was actually a couple of days later, but that was a week or so after I'd paid in the first place.

I'm prepared to wait longer due to the Bank holidays we are about to get, but frankly I will not wait past three weeks, bank holidays or not. That does not equate to wanting it next day. I'm still hopeful though that it will arrive today.

Soolin I think you have been very patient wating 2 weeks. I have had buyers contact me in 2 days demanding to know where there item is. I have items ending this weekend and plan to email all my buyers personally to tell them its beens dispatched but remind them there are 2 4 day weekends coming up and that mail could be held up due to it.

I got a message I have been expecting today.

On the 23rd March I sold an item to a buyer in China, now for some reason I was dubious about this seller can't put my finger on why as I have sold to numerous places around the world. About 4 hours later I was even more unsure as I got a message asking why I hadn't posted the item yet (he purchased it 6pm our time). I emailed him to explain our items are collected at the end of business each day and he had missed that days collection time.

Fast forward to today and I get this message

    Dear sir:
I am still not receive the item from you nearly 1 month, pls tell me why?and give me feedbacks ,if you continue no any feedbacks, I will apply for paypal return my money back and complain to Ebay,I am very angry I have lost my business opportunity ,but you never contact me initiative

I knew this was coming, but the comment on the feedback was odd as I had left feedback the moment I received payment and its not as if he couldn't see it, I was the first person to give him feedback and he now has a grand total of 2. Also the never contacting him stuff, all his emails replied to and extra ones sent when item was posted.

So I started to sort out getting a replacement and having it tracked this time. However I discovered that my brilliant partner had obviously shared the same concerns as me and had sent it International Tracked in the first place. Brilliant, so put in the tracking number and bingo - Item signed for in China on the 1st April, 7 days after I sent it.

So I have forwarded all this to the buyer and apologised for not sending the tracking number through in the first place.

However I fear I am going to get 1* in all categories and a negative for this. Would I be able to appeal this if he claims he never received it and I can show it was delivered to him just 7 days after posting?

I know how you feel Soolin, I've had a few gambles on 'bargains' from iffy sellers that everyone else passed by, and regretted it every time. Waiting over a week for something faded and bobbly to show up in a tesco bag covered in tape, yay!

off topic from OP, but the problem with China, and the reason why I don't buy from there, is that if you need to return something you'll have to post it back to China (even when they have a warehouse in the UK and send from there).
I've yet to find a Chinese seller with good feedback, their listings promise the world 'contact us if you have any problem, don't leave bad feedback', they know it's important to respond politely to neg feedback, but what they promise never materialise.

So this statement leads you to think I have a vendetta against sellers?

Yes, because you're basically biased against the average, normal person, seller. People who unlike you, don't know the ins and outs of eBay, and use it to sell an item every now and then.

Obviously business sellers are going to know what's what and just refund you. Probably because they've figured out by now that any other way is going to result in eBay just refunding you.

And on the "personal attack" selling comment. I go out of my way to post items the next morning or if possible the same day I recieve payment. That is where I believe my influence stops - I always give recorded and special delivery options, if the buyer wants 1 day guaranteed delivery, the option is there.

I believe that private sellers can provide an equally good service, they may be prone to make mistakes as they don't know the ins and outs of ebay intricate policies, but a good seller would know that if they buyer does not receive their item they deserve a refund (not just because ebay forces you anyway).
Also good sellers would try and find out about what is important, some come here and ask.
Private or business is no excuse to behave like the seller mentioned by soolin.
You didn't actually say that if a buyer contacts you because they have not received an item you will say that they will get a refund, and reasonably quickly. Offering recorded delivery is of no use to the buyer, why would they want to pay for something that has no advantage for them (and little for the seller too, but that's a different story).
