Yesterday I queried a late parcel with the seller as I was a bit worried that it hadn't arrived. I just got back the message ,' it went 1st class last Tuesday and RM won't consider it lost for 15 working days but I am happy to let you have the proof of posting before that so you have it in time for a claim'.
I must stop picking up bargains from sellers with poor stars, it is more trouble than it is worth. It is still early days and I suspect from the feedback and stars that it wasn't actually posted when it was marked as such so I am not unduly worried that it is a bit late but I was peeved to come across yet another seller who doesn't understand how it all works.

I'm starting to understand more and more why sometimes buyers are very grateful even for the most basics things, like receiving a refund for INR, quickly and in full.
I must admit, I'm very risk adverse, as I've said before I'd rather pay a little more and get peace of mind. Although whey I was buying to resell I was a bit more adventurous, but that didn't last long as it was too much work and very little profit.
But you seller does not know who he's dealing with0 -

More fool him, there's plenty of folk (not you :-) ) who would accept his kind offer of the POP, open an INR, and claim from Royal Mail too. Double win!0 -
that wasnt what I expected Soolin
- I thought as a seller a "message to make your heart sink" would be from a buyer ( with a history of trigger finger negging ) who youve sent quite an expenive item and at a rather large postage fee ,emails you with
" Hi received the item today BUT ........................................................"
( thats when my heart and everything else sinks )As Martin says - please be nice - there is no such thing as a stupid question !0 -
I actually have a scan now of the COP (I have no idea why seller sent it) and as I suspected the date shows it wasn't sent Until last Thursday, two days later than seller originally insisted was the date. In that case it is hardly late at all and I am just being impatient. It doesn't help that seller waited almost a week to post in the first case.
Midn you, I bought something from a proper business seller yesterday and it turned up first thing this morning, some sellers deserve more than 5* for that level of service!I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards. I think ebay is becoming worse to buy from now.
Prices are dearer than shop prices in a lot of cases, shill bidding can be blatant, I have just had my first dispute with a seller as INR, perhaps after being with ebay from the start, it's time to consider the high street again.
The only thing it appears to be good for is buying from abroad, India and China seem reliable, so long as you understand the quality of what you are getting.0 -
Why would this make your or indeed anyone's heart sink?
You will get your money back, no questions asked from PayPal unless he's sent the item tracked, which seems unlikely from the details you've given.
I really have no idea why you seem to have this vendetta against sellers. It isn't somehow "strange" or "suspicious" that a seller wouldn't know the onus to prove delivery lies on them according to eBay.
I must admit posting late is always annoying, but then, I would not consider eBay for urgent purchases.Said Aristippus, “If you would learn to be subservient to the king you would not have to live on lentils.”
Said Diogenes, “Learn to live on lentils and you will not have to be subservient to the king.”0 -

You only need to look at the number of sellers putting ridiculous t&c on their listings, to see that many sellers either don't know or choose to ignore ebay/paypal's rules.
It's very common to see disclaimers stating that if the item is lost in the post the buyer is stuffed (if they are reallllllly nice they will offer to send you the CoP to help with your claim from RM....).
Many people on this board who are seller themselves, and work their axx off to give buyers a good service, get really mad when they see other sellers are putting all their work in jeopardy. How many buyers will come back to ebay and buy from me after they are treated they way Soolin describes?
Anyone discouraging people from buying on ebay is hurting my business, indirectly, and that's why myself and many other sellers will get really annoyed with fellow sellers.0 -

My heart sank as I realised it was a mistake to gamble on a seller with poor stars who obviously doesn't realise how ebay actually works.
Yes I know I can get my money back, but knowing your seller is likely to prove difficult is never a good thing and no, I do not expect to wait several weeks for my goods.Midn you, I bought something from a proper business seller yesterday and it turned up first thing this morning, some sellers deserve more than 5* for that level of service!
So this statement leads you to think I have a vendetta against sellers?
Also as terra_ferma says we all share the same customers. If this is normal for this seller then how many potential buiyers of 'my' goods have been put off ebay entirely? We see it on here all the time, a buyer has a bad experience with ebay, maybe even falls for the 'no refund if lost in post' nonsense and never uses ebay again. Your getting soft in your old age. You clearly know that Paypal is your best friend now & filing "Item-Not-Received" claims is the only highlight to your day..
