Orange broadband troubles

o2 requested the filters back at the end of my contract along with all other equipment they gave me.
The orange filters, to me, seem fine (build quality seems the same as O2's)
I have a constant 2Mb/s internet connection speed, whether at evenings or in the middle of the day/
also, my upload speed is always almost exactly 1Mb/s every single time I have ran a speed test, i think this is normal but I just thought it may help for me to post additional information.
At some points, my download seed has been slower than the upload speed which I know is not normal.
You said about posting my router stats, how do I do this, where can I find them?0 -
I've also recently had the problem of the occasional cutting out of the internet whilst I am using it. It is only a very short loss of connection to the internet but it is annoying as in the case below:
I have just been writing a private message on this website and it cut out whilst I was doing that, therefore, when I clicked send I recieved an error message, I went back after some time time and tried again - I don't knwo if I have sent the message twice now - sorry if I have!0 -
No free lunch, and no free laptop0

Hi kkid
Sorry to read you're still having problems. It looks like you tried to send us a couple of private messages on here, however, as a Company Representative we are not permitted to communicate with customers via PM. I thought I'd best respond here incase you felt we were ignoring you.
From the information in your posts, I really would advise to call Customer Support about this issue. They should be happy to look into this for you.
Darren from Orange Helpers“Official Company Representative
I am the official company representative of Orange. MSE has given permission for me to post in response to queries about the company, so that I can help solve issues. You can see my name on the companies with permission to post list. I am not allowed to tout for business at all. If you believe I am please report it to forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com This does NOT imply any form of approval of my company or its products by MSE"0 -
Ok Darren, thanks, ill probably have to call them then...
or maybe not...
I did what macman said and found my router stats and apparently it is reciving 14Mbps speeds
here are my stats:
*turns out I can't post a link to the image I created* see below
I still doubt it is due to my equipment however for two reasons; I never had this issue with O2 with the same setup on my devices, I have ran speed tests using four completely different gadgets: these gadgets being 2 laptops, a ps3 and an android phone and still recieved around 2Mbps
aaaaahhhhhhh, i've got to type it all out now...
Ill only do the bottom bit (ADSL LINK) I think thats the most important, you don't need to know the port stuff do you (there is lots to type out then lol)
Downstream:
Connection speed = 14334kbps
Line Attenuation = 16.9 db
Noise Margin = 6.3 db
Upstream:
Connection speed = 1260 kbps
Line Attenuation = 9.8 db
Noise Margin = 5.8 db0 -
I have also found that there is newer firmware for my router on the netgear website
In the settings for my router it says I have version 1.1.00.33
but on the netgear website for my model, the DGN1000 (would post a link but can't) it says that the latest version is
- DGN1000 Firmware Version 1.1.00.41 (For Worldwide users Only)
- DGN1000 Firmware Version 1.1.00.40(For users in North America Only)
- DGN1000 Firmware Version 1.1.00.34
and if so, which do I need (I am in the UK)0 -
Here are my full stats...

I can finally post links
I may as well also add that it is not my line quality causing the problem, I have an A grade line according to pingtest.net, I live very close to an exchange too0 -
I have to ask-why switch from O2 to Orange?
Sadly, this is what I did,my speeds with Orange are AWFUL,less than 80kps,not even 1 meg,I left my router on the whole time, when I joined, made not a jot of difference,I phoned them up,people in India got me to re-set the router, the router is fine,I have changed the filter, disconnected everything else connected to the line, put in a new cable,NOTHING makes it faster,my upload is less than 10kps,I can't upload a thing.I was getting 2 and a half meg, then one day it just died, been rotten ever since, worse thing I ever did leaving o2,this Orange is truly awful,I am in this stinking contract and can't get out, stuck with virtually no broadband. They then say we may have to get BT to come and check, but you could be charged if they find a fault in your home etc,etc.:mad::mad::mad::mad::mad:
Why don't Orange ask BT to see if there is any noise on the line??????...:mad::mad::mad:
I posted my router stats on here, was told my router is working at it's optimum.Kawasaki z750 Rider!0 -
You can do your own noise test: plug into the BT test socket (beneath the master socket split faceplate), dial 17070, select Option 2 (BT quiet line test).
Have Orange not already taken you through the standard checks? No free lunch, and no free laptop0 -

What is a split faceplate? We used to have 2 lines here but now only 1,so my faceplate has 2 sockets,it is not 'split'????I am plugging into the correct socket.Orange have had me jumping through hoops, still makes no difference, totally useless broadband.:(Kawasaki z750 Rider!0
