no, its 500mb of data a month which is equivalent to one of the following:
    Emails without attachments500,000
    Emails with photo attachments(average size)1,000
Visits to simple sites like Twitter or blogs 5,000
    Visits to rich-content sites like bbc.co.uk or guardian.co.uk 500
    Download tunes Low quality 12
    or High quality 50
    Watch YouTube™ videos (4.5 minutes long)60 views

T-mobile operates a fair use policy too:

However much you use the internet, you'll never get charged extra

We're the only operator to offer you a fixed price for browsing and emailing on your mobile broadband connection with no limits and no extra charges.
    • Never pay more than your monthly fixed price
    • You can always browse and email with no limits
    • Perfect for getting online when you're out and about
    Is there an allowance?
You can browse and email as much as you want.
Your price plan has a 500MB or 1GB allowance (depending on the plan you select) for streaming videos and uploading and downloading files. If you hit this limit during the month, you won't be able to do this stuff again until the next month.

    Hope this helps.

I have gone for the deal as I think its pretty good if you're out and about. I have wi-fi at home and most of my friends have wi-fi at theirs too so I will purely be using the data allowance in an area where there is no wi-fi hotspot.

If you compare the overall price (£15 + 24 x £15=£375) its still alot cheaper than buying the galaxy tab outright and going onto a payg tariff.

    Damn good deal IMO

Actually, i guess if you are using the 3G bit you won't be watching youtube etc will you so in that case 500mb will probably be enough. It costs you £375 in total for 2 years and the cheapest i have seen the Galaxy for is £299 (someone said with no 3G but i think they mean no sim). So, £175 over 2 years = £7.29 per month for 500 MB. I pay £7.50 with 3 for 5 GB....
Unless you want to spread the cost you OR you won't use the 3G that much you can get more for your money buying it as a standalone and putting a dongle sim in it.
I guarantee you won't be disappointed with it if you get it though. I love mine and am not even slightly bored with it yet and i have had it nearly 3 months.

Apologies, see post further down which says "£375-£299=£76 not £175 as you stated which is only £76/24 = £3.17 per month. And anyway as far as I can see the £299 figure is for the wifi only model, (no sim card slot). The 3g model is £372.50 on Amazon with no data plan which effectively means the groupon deal is giving you a 24 month data plan for £2.50 or 10p per month!! plus free credit to buy the Tab. You can still cancel the plan at the end of the 24 months and use it wifi only. "

Looked at this yesterday PAYG price.
This deal is better than PAYG price. (£15 down and 24X £15 - £375)
I think I need to go and try one out instore today and probably order when I come home.

wifi only does mean no sim card slot, essentially the price overall will be that this deal will cost you about the same as buying the tab outright and that will get you 500mb a month, which when you look at it is pretty good. I was more dubious about it because I expected people to blow their 500mb and beyond and then t-mobile to start sending out huge bills but instead of billing you they just cut you off for the month so i guess that risk isn't there anymore. I'm slightly tempted by it now as i've been looking at a tablet, but i'd rather have the bigger 10 inch and one thats got the new honeycomb version of android inside.

I have an ipad as well, not the new one. I didn't realise they did the Galaxy as wi fi only! I guess it depends what you want it for but although its nicer to watch films on the ipad because of the size i prefer the galaxy because of the quality. It's an excellent picture. Also nice for books. Saying that, if you don't need it for travel then the ipad could be better.
Galaxy is easily upgradeable, i got 32 MB of micro SD for £30 from ebay. Can't do that with the ipad.
One thing to note also with T Mobile is that coverage is pretty naff. I have an unlimited t mobile sim that my OH brought me 2 years ago nearly and it's hardly been used as we can never get a signal with it. I have used it a little in my Galaxy but not alot. 3 seems to have much better coverage down here for us (South East).

i thought that would be the case. I think the key selling point for getting an alternative to both is that i'd like to be able to charge it and use it on my TV at the same time which neither of these do without an extra lead or dock of some sort. I've looked at ipads and whats annoying is the only reason for getting one over an android equivalent is that it is an ipad. the android ones i'm looking at can do more and generally after playing with some pre release ones at the gadget show live it's worth waiting for honeycomb, it just felt a lot more polished on the bigger screens than 2.2 does.

edit: the wifi only tab is new, i think it's only been available a week or 2.
edit 2: i'm not sure about t-mobile, mobile reception in our house is very funny, i'm fine on tesco and my girlfriend is ok on vodafone but it's only 2g, i know three is non existant though. We are in west london so we should get alright signal from most networks once you get outside our mobile proof house
  • Thanks OP - I don't need a Galaxy Tab but if I didn't look on there anyway I wouldn't have seen the wine deal I just bought! :D

( 15 quid for 35 pounds worth of wine!! )

Even with postage works out at £2.50 a bottle for approx £6 each wine

i have purchased my groupon just waiting for it to be granted fingers crossed enough have bought it as this will be a massive saving for me
  • Got my code through via email last night and have just placed my order. Just as an additional note, you also get 100 minutes and unlimites texts as the galaxy has these capabilities, which is VERY handy as I have blackberry with an AWFUL battery life, so it'll be good to have as a back up phone!

You also have to pay a £5 delivery charge which is added to your first bill bringing it in at £20. Because of the bank holiday weekend, the earliest delivery is tuesday. Mine will be with me between 9am and 12 on tuesday. I am so excited!! haha
