OS Daily 20th April

Hi, this is the Daily Thread for Wednesday 20th April. This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!

As this is the
Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or slow internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred.

When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.

Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “hi everyone, hope everyone’s well” type start does just as well.

    Morning All ,

Where is everybody?!??!! Is there a thread I didn't see somewhere?! Can't believe I'm the first one here! Or perhaps I shouldn't be so surprised seeing as I've barely slept AGAIN!

Baby is firmly pressing on my sciatic nerve and making it nigh on impossible to sleep :( Have asked various midwives for advice and they all seem to say there's nowt I can do about it other than "take paracetamol". Thanks guys but that doesn't really help when your leg decides to just crumble whilst you're walking up the stairs

Have missed quite a lot of posts so need to catch up but hope everyone is well.

Need to go and wake DH up as he kind of should have left by now... ooops :D OS today will include hanging out the washing and doing the ironing.

    Hugs to all xx

NPM - no, no referral as yet. It's definitely sciatica which I've had before, best just left to go away on it's own... Hey ho I've only got a few weeks left :)

    Morning all
Hubby's been dropped at the station with his packup, he'll be late home tonight as he's visiting BIL in hospital, Dr's now think BIL has a fractured jaw & perforated eardrum as well. I hope hubby will be better for having seen him as he'll have a better idea of how he is.
I stopped at Tesco after dropping hubby off, I gave DD2 £10 yesterday for the DGC's for Easter & DD asked if she could spend it on DGD1 as she has grown out of pants & vests, I agreed but bought her 15 prs of pants & 10 vests this morning to save DD trying to shop while DGD2 has chicken pox.
I've been taking painkillers since yesterday, I went to have a smear test & the practice nurse must have been a coal miner in a previous life, I've never had a test before that was even uncomfortable, this one was painful & still hurts today.
Today's plans include making cottage pies, one for tea & one for DD1 to put in her freezer & making a start on the dress for my wedding, I think I'm going to use the pattern fron the latest Prima magazine.
    Have a good day everyone.
    Hugs Hester

Morning all - today is all about picking up the camper van and packing it, then driving to Wigan. If anyone is on the A1, M62, M60, M61 and Hindley from 10.30 - 3 today - give all camper vans a wide berth - just in case its me!! Will be the biggest vehicle I've ever driven, but I like driving and I AM having a short driving lesson with the salesman before I venture out on my own. Will not be attempting reversing on my own!

Spending the next few days at FILs and then coming back on Easter Sunday so we can go to Castle Howard with friends on Easter Monday. Provided the weather holds it will be a lovely time! Hopefully my plants will survive as I gave them a good watering yesterday and will drench them again when we get back on Sunday. The boys are going over to my neighbours house this morning (she's giving them breakfast) so I can have my mini driving lesson in peace - full concentration! Washing in the machine (as ever) and despite the forecast I'll spread it around the house. Have a spring cold which is making me feel a bit dopey, but I can't complain.

HH - Fingers still crossed for your BIL. Thinking of you. Hester - speak up about the practice nurse - simple reason (even if you don't want to) - if you don't tell her or her manager how it feels then she'll NEVER learn and could do someone else damage.

Hugs and positive vibes to those who need them.
Me, OH, grown DS, (other DS left home) and Mum (coming up 80!). Considering foster parenting. Hints and tips on saving £ always well received. Xx

March 1st week £80 includes a new dog bed though £63 was food etc for the week.

    Morning all!

Had a very productive day yesterday, iron tablets must be helping, or perhaps I'm finally experiencing the energy burst that everyone promises when you're pregnant! Did load after load of washing, including bedding and towels, and dried it on the line - dd3 made me laugh, as she said that if we got another line and put out the airer like we do in the summer then we could get even more loads done and it would save electricity!

Made some lovely light iced buns, made my chutney and even whipped up some choc ice cream, so kids are happy!

Dropped ds off at a mate's house, and then took girls on their promised shopping trip, didn't stay too long, but dd2 got her undies and dd1 tried on a couple of possible prom dresses, though neither were quite right, and I got offered a seat whilst I was waiting for her - turned around at first imagining the lady was asking someone behind me, forgot how fat I'm looking lol! Also found dd3 a swimsuit, goggles and swimhat for the grand total of £7 in Sports Direct, what a bargain, usually find that black swimsuits suitable for school cost an arm and a leg, so very pleased!

Got home and made a lovely couscous salad for our lunch, then in between hanging and folding washing put together a veg bed. Discovered that I had more space than I thought and also that I needed more mud, so off we trooped to the garden centre, this time with dd3's friend in tow too, and I got my mud and another 2 beds, think I shall get another one today, then I can put bark chippings between them and get filling them with veg and salad :)

So plan for today is take dd3 swimming as promised, so she can practice before lessons start at school next week and so that the new swimsuit etc can be test driven, go to garden centre and then off to work till 9pm!

OS stuff today has so far involved cleaning up 3 lots of cat sick (apologies to those eating brekkie!), throwing all 3 cats outside - though with the windows open I can't guarantee they'll stay out lol! Putting on BM to mix oaty dough, ready for a loaf and some rolls, throwing on some more washing (odd bits found scattered around the house: socks, towels from dd3 and her pal's water fight, few jumpers left on the banister, etc, and thinking about what else I need to sort today! Will S&S kitchen, unload and load DW, put out rubbish as it's finally bin day, yippee, as we are currently vanishing under cardboard for some reason, and have a looksee on the flyladies thread and have a go at whatever today's tasks may be!

Went to see Red Riding Hood last night, was okay, but think it was aimed at 14 year old girls, still it was nice to get out with best friend and catch up, and yippee his broken ribs are almost healed enough to help me do my new flooring! So hopefully won't be long till the manky sitting and dining room carpets are history!

Hope everyone has a good day xxx

    Good morning

I don't get on here much these days, but its the school holidays, so now is my chance! Hope everyone is well and enjoying the sunshine. The washing is out on the line. Plans today include cleaning our bedroom and then generally tidying up the rest of the house. We are in the middle of painting the hall, stairs and landing, it is a long job as it has been plastered. Still having back trouble though so everything is done slowly and carefully so as not to over-do it.

I need to fit in some coursework over the holiday too, must be mad starting this but I'm sure updating my skills will be worthwhile.
Take care everyone, off to catch up a bit now.

    Morning All,

Another lovely sunny day, but I have run out of things to wash:eek:

HH/BB Positive vibes for your BIL's

Still feeling a bit fed up with this cold but it is going slowly. Not much Easter celebration as DH is working all wkend, can't wait to get my car back as I am going stir crazy.

Never mind should have it Thursday. DS3 and I will go into town for a day and have lunch out. I also need to go to the library, do some food shopping and all the other little bits I normally do without thinking twice.

So today will be a swish and swipe around. Tea will be leftover chicken with pasta. The plan this morning is to sit around in my pj's until I feel guilty enough to get dressed. :D

Have a good day all x
