3 Credit check passed?
I made an order on the 3 website for a mifi dongle.
I received an order confirmation email and a processed one a minute or so later:
"Your 3 order has been processed
We’ve checked your details and now have everything we need. So your order is ready to go. If any of the details below are incorrect, just give us a call as soon as possible on ***********, quoting your order reference number below."
Anyway, I was wondering if this means payment has been taken?
I am concerned as the order was in my name, but I used my son's visa electron card details because it is for him. It wouldn't let us change the name at the payment stage but I put in the card details, etc, and it asked me for the password (you know the new secure system where you have to enter a password for online purchases), and I put it in and the password went through fine.
I phoned up to check and they don't even have my order on the system
But they confirmed I received the emails from them so I don't know what is going on!!
Anyway I'd appreciate your help!

Yes and yes
Do they use the debit and card details for the credit check or just name and D.O.B.?
The second email I got said the order is ready to go, but I have never used 3 before so I don't really know how it works.0 -
everything went throufg smoothly and I received the mifi modem
I ordered a 3 Mifi dongle from the 3 website. I paid £39.99 for the dongle and it is £15.99/month for 5GB data allowance on a rolling 1 month contract. I received it today and phoned up to cancel, after being tossed between different departments and being interrogated like a criminal on every exact detail of why I was cancelling and what date I may need to use the broadband again, I managed to get the woman to cancel it.
After the end of my first phone call (I had to make two, and the second call finally got me through to a woman who was willing to cancel the contract after a 30 minute interrogation), the man told me I could not cancel the contract only and keep the mifi modem as I am still within my 14 day return period, and that I would have to return everything, including the modem if I cancel now. Otherwise I could cancel at the beginning of next month and keep the dongle. I did not believe this as I had not read this anywhere and I had been told on the online chat that I would be able to definitely cancel the contract the day i received the package and cancel the contract only, so I would only end up paying for 1 month, and keep the dongle.
I phoned back up and finally managed to cancel it as I mentioned, and I asked if I would receive some sort of letter or confirmation of cancellation and was advised I would receive a bill a couple of weeks after my contract ends, including the charges I incur for going over my data allowance if I do, but I know I will not.
Anyway, I was just wondering if they tend to lie about cancelling and keep the contract going? I am planning on phoning them up again to confirm that it has been cancelled but it takes ages to get through and I don't have a direct number for 3 mobile broadband cancellations.0 -
Does anyone have the direct number to get through to the 3 broadband cancellation team?0

1. Your post is best placed on the mobile phone forum, so you may get a better response there.
2. You may want to amend your title, as you are saying that 3 are telling fibs, when you don't know. You may wish to change your title from;
Three telling fibs, cancel 1 month contract
to
Are Three telling me fibs about 1 month rolling contract cancellations?
Best Regards

Any reason your cancelling? or are you trying to get broadband for free? surely you will have to return the 3g modem or there will be a clause in the t&c's. nothing is ever free....0 -
Hmmm... yes.
I think the Mobiles board would be a better place for this one - the gurus there should be able to help on this one, so I'll move the thread across.

Just to clarify, this is a 1 month contract I have so I should be able to cancel it at anytime as long as I give 30 days notice
I am cancelling simply because I do not need 5GB a month. I have paid £39.99 for the dongle, so I don't see why I should have to return it as well. I would understand if it was a 12, 18 or 24 month contract as the dongle wiould be 'free' then. I am not trying to get broadband for free, I will just use prepsid data sims by 3 for the modem because I will only be using the sim occasionally.
Anyone have a link to the broadband policy? I haven't been able to find anything0 -
I'm pretty sure that all 1 month rolling contracts (that's all providers) have a minimum term of... 1 month, after the first month you should be able to cancel. Now free from the incompetence of vodafail0

I am aware of this. I received the package yesterday and phoned up yesterday to give my 30 days notice, so I will still be paying £15.99 for the first month, but I am not wanting to also pay for a second month or after, which is why I phoned up yesterday.
I'm new to all this mobile contract stuff so I may have missed something, but the last person I spoke to during my first phone call said it was minimum 60 days contract, you couldn't just pay for the first month and keep the dongle. I was like, hang on, I paid £39.99 for the modem.
Then when I managed to get through to the same correct department in my second phone call again, I was put through to a different person who asked one of her colleagues if this was possible and I was told its fine, but man, was it difficult to not give up because they spend 30 minutes trying to get me to stay. I was informed that my contract will end on 20th of May, and I can request to cancel the cancellation up until then.0
