    Fanko!

    Guess what I'll be making with that tin of pineapples and half a tub of cherrys hiding in the cuboard, that I have been wondering what to with ;)

    Queenpig.
    Grocery Challenge. £400. - £35.22 + £19.80 + £109.01 = £164.03
    Other spends (Clothes Luxuries etc)£11.97 + £1.19 + £7.36 + £69.00 + £38.50 + £5.50 + £23.00 +£2.00 = £158.52:shocked::sad:
  • The book was in WHSmith today, along with the new Jamie Oliver which I stupidly bought on impulse (half price). After reading it and enjoying the pictures and design I then realised I already had more recipes than I ever need or use.

    The pineapple cake looks good though ;)

    I had a look at the cook book today in Waterstones. But resisted.

    Thankfully there are loads of cookbooks coming out at the moment - and I can choose. Tana Ramsey, Rachel Allen, Nigel Slater, Nigella, Jamie, Bill Granger. Thankfully this is making me think twice about buying any of them.

    If they had got together and released one a month, I would have been suckered in and bought them all. But this way I can see what a fool and a wastrel I am.

    I may request Nigel and Nigella (and maybe Bill) for christmas, however.

    Good housekeeping has some more nigella recipes in this month.

    And I made her Squid from the first show last night - mmm mmm mmm. (The recipe's on the bbc website).

    Thriftlady - but a lot of the pleasure comes from just reading and looking. I don't think I could make every recipe in my house - not if I live to be 95. Then again - the recipes do tend to repeat with just minor changes, so maybe I don't actually have as many as DH thinks I do. Hmm. Have I found a reason to buy more?

    You're right, I do enjoy reading about food and that is why I'm able to do my own thing because I've read so many recipes.

    Btw the new Nigel Slater isn't a cookbook. I think it is a food book rather than recipes -it's about the British and their relationship with food. It's on my wish list though ;)

    I cannot see why not, as these dishes obviously heat up enough to cook cake in same way as tin ones. I suppose you have to try and see!
    I have got muffin tins, a loaf tin, and baking cases made of silicone but have not got rid of my tin ones too as I find the silicone ones sometimes need some support round them when mixture is runny. Things really don't stick though so they are good.
