Yes water does fall from the sky but it needs cleaned and pumped to where you live. Also the charge from a water company for a litre of water is slightly more than 0.1p.
Do you really think that is extortionate?
Normal consumption is around 150 litres per person per day. For all this water and your sewage you are charged less than 50p a day. Is this really extortionate?There's no sense crying over every mistake.
You just keep on trying till you run out of cake.0 -

Just so you know, I have always paid my bills on-time but that means nothing to TW. But you didn't this time and that does mean something to them.
Glad I cheered up your sad little lives!! hardly cheered anything up but you asked for advice / help and got it..Sorry it was not what you wanted to hear. Next time tell us what you want us to say as that would save a lot of time
I am sorry that you don't agree with what you are being told but it does not make it wrong.
You have no right to complain under the DPA and you really have no reason to complain to TW.There is a race of men that don't fit in; A race that can't stand still;

Rather a contradictionSkintgirlx wrote: »I recently was late paying my bill, I rang TW and told them I would be late0 -
All you have to do is tell the DCA that the debt is expressly denied (which can can truthfully say now as it has been paid although late) and that they should pass their file back to TW. Also tell them that further contact willl be considered harrasment and reported accordingly. If they don't want to be in trouble with the authorities then thay have no choice but to comply. Problem solved.
Blocking your phone and calling TW a "disgusting company" is just plain silly and childish. How would you like it if they publicly called you a "disgusting person" because you failed to pay your bill on time as you are contractually obligated to do?

That's so cheap!!! You have no idea how lucky you are!
If my quarterly bills were £175 I would feel rich (Yes, I live in the SW! My last bill (for a one bed flat with no leaks (that's been checked) was £195!

Your letter to the Water Company should clear up the matter if not claim compensation:

Written account queries and requests to change payment arrangements not actioned on time
Written complaints not actioned on time0 -

compo for what though ?
The OP called them and said payment would be late..So no letter or payment change requested ( change to a payment plan is done over the length of the plan and not for one payment only and is done by cancelling the old plan and resetting it..that was not what was done)
The complaint (if written as a CROSS) should be dealt with or replied to within 10 working days by either phone or letter but as the question was about the DPA and passing on phone numbers (or at least that is how the OP sounded) then it will be replied to as in " we are allowed to do that " so no further action is needed.There is a race of men that don't fit in; A race that can't stand still;

Once you write and tell the Water company you have paid then they must action it and stop their agent chasing payment I think within 10 days. If not I guess you can claim compensation. If you also make the letter a formal complaint they have to reply to you otherwise you get compensation. You are correct no compensation is due if they do these things which I guess they will.0

Where does that come from ? I have never heard that before.
You would not need to write to the water company and tell them you have paid if you paid them > The account would be taken back from the credit agency when an update was run. Normally every day but I was under the impression it could be up to 14 days.
We don't know how long they called the OP for as she blocked their number and wrote to complain about the DPA so again that might not apply.
I am very against this compo lark just for a phone call as no damage has been done and no one is hurt etc..I do honestly think that a simply " I have paid it, please check..Thank you" works just as well as getting all bent out of shape over it.
The OP was complaining more I think about the debt going to the collection agent and also about the DPA and as such there is no grounds for that complaint.
There might be grounds if the CROSS complaint letter is not replied to within 10 working days but that is about all I can see unless you can show me part of the DG ruling about collections etc.There is a race of men that don't fit in; A race that can't stand still;
