We'd love to be able to have a quicker turnaround but the scheme is proving pretty popular so applications can take a while to go through the full process. Also sometimes the forms don't have the correct information included with them - for example a meter reading and this can also add to the delay.
We also have to complete a number of validations, as per our license obligations, to enable customers to have the scheme.
The six weeks timeline is just a guide to how long it can take but if we receive an application form that is correctly filled out and with all relevant information, this process can be much quicker.
Also, please don't worry about missing out on payments as you'll get paid from the date you have the system installed, not from the date we process the application.
If you have been waiting over six weeks, you can email me at forumresponse@npower.com and I'll take a look into it for you.
Best
Sally
Excellent news! My form was filled in by myself and my installer together and sent in on 17th May, so I would hope that it is correct.
At this stage, I would just like to know that it has been received safely.0 -

Just for comparison, E.ON took less than a week to process my application form and set up my FIT plan. Remember, you don't have to use your existing electricity supplier for FIT registration.
Any company taking 6 weeks plus, and not responding to phone calls and e-mails, isn't sufficiently resourced in my opinion.0 -

The saga continues!
npower finally got back to me on 21st June, saying that they had received my application on 23rd May, despite sending it to them on 17th May - the day after my system went live. So I've lost out on a weeks worth of FiT (about £35).
However, I did get a contract through today for me to sign and return. They will then 'activate' my FiT account.

I presume that you have sent them the application form, which you can download from their website. We had a system installed on March 15th but didn't get the form to NPower until March 25th (the installer didn't tell us that you need to send it off ASAP together with the relevant certificate and invoice).
We had put the meter reading as 0001 but nPower pointed out that the reading must be the one on the day when they receive the form (when you read the FITS conditions they are right) so I emailed them the March 25th reading and am now waiting to hear that we are registered.
how can it be from the reading the day they get the form . if you post it say monday and readings 10kwh by the time the get it , the reading will be higher stupid ,

I submitted an application to Good Energy to be my FIT partner by email last week and received written confirmation this morning, so some FIT companies seem to be able to put the required resources in!
If a small company like Good Energy can do it so quickly why can't a bigger company?
I hope their payments are just as fast!We need the earth for food, water, and shelter.
The earth needs us for nothing.
The earth does not belong to us.

With reference to fast payments, I'm the originator of this thread regarding npower and I sent in my first reading on 21st. May, had an acknowledgement dated 3rd. June but have yet to see the promised cheque. The rules say that the company will pay out between 30 and 60 days after the quarter ends so that should mean sometime this month. They certainly like to hang on to their cash!0 -

I meant to say that I sent the form to nPower on March 25th so they obviously received it a few days later. The Ofgem regs do actually say that payments start from when the form is received but they go on to say the FIT supplier can allow for a "reasonable postal delay" and I was later told that they allow five days.
The same thing happens when you supply the three-monthly generation meter reading. The letter from nPower said that if they didn't get the reading by June 25th I would miss the payment so I had to send it off on June 20th. You either miss five days payment or I suppose you could estimate what the reading would be five days later.0
