Letter from CP Plus

GSXR6

I have had a letter from CP Plus wanting £50 for overstaying at a motorway car park. Its backed up with some pictures but the driver is not visible. I have used the carpark several times over the years to leave my car at while visiting someone, not had an issue before so I think the camera system must have only been installed in the last 18 months. Obviously my fault for not noticing the new signs etc. The signs say "FREE for first two hours then £xx per Hour" or words to that effect.
I have read a few threads on here and elsewhere saying ignore the letters and so on, most go on about them being scammers etc. [TEXT DELETED BY FORUM TEAM] but not "scammers" by definition as that is implying something else!
All the threads I have read never seem to come to a proper conclusion, so can anyone confirm properly what lengths these chancers go to and how long it goes on for?
To be honest, if they had asked for a smaller amount I wouldnt begrudge paying as it was larglely my fault for not reading the signs, but I really dont want to shell out £50.
Without going on too much, I dont need the hassle of letter after letter from CP and collectors letters etc stressing the Mrs.
Also, can these companies affect my credit scoring somehow?

Every single question you are asking has been answered in the stickieas at the top of this board.
Please read said stickies and if there is anything unclear after that then feel free to post again.
Basically ignore everything from PPCs [except N1 from the court].Hi, we’ve had to remove your signature. If you’re not sure why then you're as thick and stupid as the moderators on here - MSE ForumTeam0 -
Every single question you have asked is answered simply by reading the stickies at the top of this board.
Read the said stickies, and then ask any questions not covered [can't think of any that might arise].Hi, we’ve had to remove your signature. If you’re not sure why then you're as thick and stupid as the moderators on here - MSE ForumTeam0 -
Been reading the stickies, Im just concerned that knowing my luck I will be the 0.001% they persue to court! As a newbie to all this the disconcerting thing is that it is a very slight possibility.0

And your question is???
You're right.......you MIGHT be the 0.001%. [I'd actually put it at many millions to one as opposed to your 100.000 to 1.]
If such odds disconcert you then I suggest that you send off a cheque to them immediately....and then buy a lottery ticket.Hi, we’ve had to remove your signature. If you’re not sure why then you're as thick and stupid as the moderators on here - MSE ForumTeam0 -
CP Plus have never ever taken anyone to court.0

I appreciate the time and effort given by people offering advice and tips on forums like this, but obviously it can be worrying for the person who is going to go down the route of "ignore" for the first time. Im sure you have all read about these companies a million times before and it can be frustrating when people post without reading stickies, but the flippant tone of a lot of replies doesnt help for some people
Myself and many others probably posted in this section looking for reassurance and advice not having been aware of this ignore tactic, at what can be a stressful time, worrying that they be the one that gets taken all the way. Dont get me wrong, Im not having a go at anyone who takes the time to respond, what Im saying is that the mocking tone towards the PPCs gives the impression that the posters have either never had ticket or do not deal with the worry in the same way. Not everyone can just shrug off the menacing tone of the letters to come.
Personally in my case I have no qualms about ignoring these letters but my Mrs is of the attitude of just pay and dont have the stress0 -
Last April I received a letter from CP Plus solicitors (Trethowans) saying I had to pay for parking. I had never got a ticket just the letter out of the blue. I was very, very worried until I found this section of MSE, and I took the advice offered and ignored. After reading also about others who were in the same situation I was prepared to go as far as needed (including court) to show that these low life beggars are just that.
Well here we are over 1 year later, and nothing, zero, ziltch.
So GSXR6 there you have it, they love to frighten people into paying, and some people get more letters and threats than others.
I can assure you that most of the people who post on here and offer you advice, have been in the same situation as yourself and do know how you feel, just the same as I do.
I could never have answered a post on here before it happened to me, but I can now as I know exactly how these scum make you feel.
Take the advice offered on here, ignore, ignore and put it out of your mind, they will not take you to court.
Try showing these posts to your wife, and let her see for herself.
You say you find some of the replies "flippant" would you prefer the answers to your post were all doom and gloom? The replies I got to my query were much the same, but I just read it that these so called parking firms were a joke, and do you know what? they are.
Whatever way the answers were written it was still darn good and accurate advice, and I for one am grateful for it.0 -
Cheers. All I meant was that people come here worried, and as the regulars have seen it all before the mickey taking tone of the responses towards these companies may not be useful for some. I totally get that these companies are quite rightly being treated as a joke, but some people who may feel easily threatened by these letters may need a more sympathetic and supportive approach.
After feeling a bit aprehensive as I have never had to deal with this type of thing as I never owe anyone any money, I feel quite confident to safely ignore this stuff, as does the Mrs0 -
Lets say they did take you to court, and you put up the worse defence possible and the judge found in their favour (what a fairy tale Im telling) what do you think the worst outcome would be?Went shoplifting at the Disneystore today.
Got a huge Buzz out of it.0 -
Worst case scenario- its costs me a lot more than £50 plus the time off work etc0
