Hi all, looking for advice or some of your experiences regarding selling your car. Decided to sell my Volvo S60 2.4T SE petrol and finding it really difficult.
Having done my research on autotrader and using a few websites, I believe my car is reasonably priced (dropped it by £500 in last fortnight). Nothing in similar spec, condition or under priced in 50 mile radius of Stockport where I live.
It's a 52 plate with just 67k on the clock, in great condition, fully serviced and has a really high spec (Sat nav, phone, parking sensors, etc). It's up for £3.5k and is advertised on gumtree, preloved, vistastreet, pistonheads and has been on the autotrader.
Apart from a few px requests there's hardly been any interest. Dealers are not interested in the vehicle stating the petrol prices but although it's a big car it's pretty economical for it's size.
Anyway I digress, the question is, have you any ideas of how I can improve my chances if a sale? Am I missing any of the sites other than ebay? Is ebay any good for selling cars in your opinion?

Well you've gotten your self a free advert on here LOL...
Plus I think you need to lower your price to under 3000. Infact, it's probably better being closer to £2500 looking at whats available on autotrader (when it works)
51 Plate done 88k for 1595.
51 Plate auto done 97k for 1900 from a dealer...
02 Plate T5 Se from a dealer, done 98k for 2495...0 -
oh yeah haha.....honestly, looking around there's been nothing around my way for that money. Not a like for like comparison - 2.0t I'll give you....
Autotrader has been a mare recently, in fact it's one of the reasons I'm debating whether to go on it again as you can't guarantee it's working 24/7.....and it aint cheap!0 -
I got rid of my 940 Wentworth just by sticking a big laser printed sign in the window and leaving it outside my house. Sold it to a bricklayer down the road and still see it about from time to time.
Doesn't hurt to try0 -

Not a bad idea that although being on a cul-de-sac, the traffic is quite sparse
Will do that whilst it's parked up at work....worth a go...cheers0 -

Finally got on the autotrader and did a search for 40 miles radius and nothing there of the similar mileage, spec or engine size.0 -
I did a national search, upto £4000 and with a mileage limit of 80k and found 8 pages0
-
price it right and the world will beat a path to your door,
Do a national search in autrotrader, they start under a grand (granted with more miles and/or less spec) but for less than £3k a very similar car is available from a dealer (with all the SOG advantages that brings)
Suppose it depends how much you want to sell it0 -

We never paid any more for the 2.4T over the 2.0T to be honest. We just saw it as a bonus when we saw them at auctions.
the later 2.5T or any T5 was worth paying more for.
Same with BMW 320i's - we just value them as a 318.0
