well tomorrow I am going to sit down in the garden in the sun and add up all my tesco receipts for vouchers used since I started this about a month ago. I have every one, adding up outlay in cash, coupons received and goods value ( maybe divide that figure by 2 to get the real value of the products )

Am I the only one to have never seen the Betty Crocker Pancake shaker?
  • Quite a few pages back( well it is fast moving!), the question was of just how much you were actually saving per month. Were you actually spending less?

We have all done really well whatever happens now. I am beginning to think that tesco is getting more from us than we are getting from them. Think of the market research that is going on. Are we guinea pigs? Will the headlines call us a nation of pancake lovers? have brands paid tesco to up their own brand's share of the market?

I've cut my spending down quite drastically since starting DTDing a week ago normally spend £300 a month (far to much O.o) - managed only £40 last week and got as much as I would prob get in a month.

The biggest plus for me is sadly the weight loss :P lost 4lb last week since im walking 2 miles to and from tesco each day plus the half hour or so wondering around trying to find things to max out my vouchers :P I know its not alot but its helping me get back into shape and my sons (8) walking alot more as well which is only good since he wants to climb ben nevis in two months when we head to scotland :P

Im sure tesco are getting alot more from us than we are from them but at the same time without the SS and forum I doubt most people wouldnt be getting half as much let alone know what to do! Is rather annoying most mornings I wake up with a vague list I know I want only to find the items have changed prices :P Is making me try new products though :P
  • Lol - that's brilliant - all the time I had thought I had the run of the suburbs but then over the past few days have spotted more DTDers. She was very funny when I mentioned 'are you a friend of Martins' I think there was 30% panic, 30% who is this wierdo, 40% oh how nice - feel like I'm part of a club going through her mind.

We were giggling about what we'd got and how little £20 would get you (not that we were planning on paying £20 of course) and when I said what was on the spreadsheet I could see she seemed a bit puzzled but for a long time I just worked off the thread rather than the SS so just put it down to that :-)

She seems like a lovely lady and I'm so chuffed to finally meet an MSE mum DTDer :-)

Just heading back off for another last ditch shop now and I'm now inspired that I may meet more :-)

    Cheers again

    Simon
In my first shop in my locality there was a lady behind me with a fancy for Flash and Surf - please stand forward, we discussed being friends of Martins :-)

    That was my mum :)

Can't believe she met another DTDer, I have never even seen one, let alone talked to one of our species.

She isn't tech savvy so I have been printing the vouchers for her and sharing lots of the funny (and scary) stories from the chat.

I had told her about the secret phrase 'are you a friend of Martin's' but hadn't explained the spreadsheet too her. One thing at a time! Anyway, she wasn't being rude when you mentioned about the spreadsheet and she didn't respond. I have since explained about all the hard work all the SS editors do, and she says a big thank you to you all for all you do

Anyone remember the tv programme "Arabian Nights" (I think), part of the Banana Splits show? Can never hear the phrase "size of an elephant" without thinking of it - showing my age now but television back then was great!

That brings back memories. After the Banana Splits, I used to watch the Double Deckers. Come on board!

May I ask a quick question please? I see from the spreadsheet that one decent purchase is NOBILO SAUVIGNON BLANC 75CL at £8.79 per bottle. Whilst shopping the only Nobilo Sauvignon Blanc was one from the Marlborough Region and was £8.69 per bottle. I decided this must be the same one but I am now doubting myself as the price is not the same. Any views please? Thank you all in advance
  • Why do so many SA's have a problem with the voucher?

    (a) The money is not coming out of their pockets and

    (b) The footfall to their shop is probably increasing which looks good on their stats

I think that part of the problem is the lack of training. They probably resent the fact that customers are having to tell them what to do with the receipts.

I have now used several vouchers, all in the same shop, and have never come across a member of staff who actually knew what to do with them and I have had to explain the process to them.

I have never had a problem using the vouchers and have, a couple of times, used two/three vouchers at the same time . Most of the SAs I have dealt with have commented that the vouchers are a great help, and one said she must start to the the pricecheck herself. However, I can see where some staff may not like having to be told how to do their job by customers. Saying that they should still be professional enough to treat customers with a bit of respect.

I've come across a link from another site regarding Tesco price check and wonder if anybody has any ideas/comments as to it's accuracy. I am not sure who is running/updating it but it looks interesting. If I am reading it right, if it shows 50% saving this would leave a net price of 0p IF DTD confirmed.

Hi, the site is updated daily. Yes, anything 50% saving and above would mean a net price of 0p or less if it is confirmed but there is no guarantee that Tesco compares all of them.
