I was with Tesco for a bit before they got taken over by Lovefilm. Service deteriorated as did the customer service almost over night! Ran Blockbuster alongside Tesco for a few weeks and BB were and are far superior. Have cancelled now and did as another poster advised and cleared my list before cancelling and also made sure I was well within due date.
Lovefilm are !!!!!! you only have to search on the net for comments about poor service. I won't be going back that's for sure.Don't grow up. Its a trap!
Peace, love and labradors!0 -
I signed up for a four week trial offer through Goodfellas Pizza and returned each disc the day after it was received.
In the four weeks, I received three discs and each one was dirty and scratched.
Then they had the cheek to say that I was not entitled to the wine voucher from the offer as I hadn't put enough discs in my wanted list.
I checked the small print and sure enough it says a minimum of 10 discs, to satisfy the registration process.
Still three films for nothing, why should I complain.Just for one moment, thought I'd found my way.0 -
Well, the husband phoned up to cancel our membership today .... they give you an "0870" number to phone .... seems you can't just email them. Anyway, they tried to persuade him back with three months free membership ......0

I started a 30 Day free trial on 21 November with the full intention of cancelling it at the end of the trial. I emptied my rental list on 14th December and then sent back my last DVD. Surprise, surprise, they didn't bother to email me to say they had received it as they normally do. So I went into "MY ACCOUNT" and you can see on "Previously rented titles" what they have received returned.
Yesterday, I then tried to cancel my membership on the website (as they say you're supposed to) and of course, you then have to ring an 0870 number. When someone eventually answered, he told me that they had not received my last DVD, when I told him that they had, as it was listed as returned under Previously Rented Titles and that I had printed off a copy of that page as proof, he changed tack and said "it can take up to 48 hours to cancel your credit card details" which of course would bring us to 20th December, the first day they would theoretically charge me. I asked his name and told him that if any money was taken from my credit card, I would class it as theft and would report Lovefilm to the police - complete rubbish obviously but it seemed to do the trick as then he decided to offer me three months free membership which I declined. All in all, including waiting time, I was on the phone for 20 minutes, all at my expense!tdodd wrote:I signed up for a free 14 day trial on 14th November. The first DVDs were despatched on 15th and received on 16th. I was watching and returning all DVDs on the day received and always got replacements sent the same day that my returns were received back by Lovefilm. So on that score I cannot fault the service ay all.
However, I decided to cancel the trial and did so by phone (as you have to) on 25th November, 11 days after joining. I sent back my last DVD on the 25th and that was received on the 28th, 14 days after I joined and 13 days after they first despatched a DVD. Yet they have just charged £14.99 to my credit card for a full month, on the 28th, knowing full well that I had already cancelled my account and returned all DVDs. They refuse to refund me and I have had to raise a dispute with my credit card company.
I do have £13.50 pending in my Quidco account so in cash terms I haven't really lost out but I am unimpressed with their "14 day free trial", as in practice, allowing for postal delays, it is more like 10 days or less of useable service. Since at Xmas there is a higher risk of postal delays this means the 14 day trial is now probably only worth 7 days at best and if your last DVD gets back to them late, through no fault of your own, they will charge you for the next month.0 -
I recently cancelled with them as 90% of my rentals used to take one day in the post , e.g . sent to me on Monday, received on Tuesday, returned by me on Wednesday and then marked as returned to LF on Thursday but lately it was much slower and more like 60 - 70 % were ( allegedly ) sent to me Monday , received Wednesday / Thursday sent back the next day and marked as returned Tuesday / Wednesday.
I admit the postal service was busier due to the time of the year but none of my other mail seemed to be affected so badly.Vindiesel wrote:I am cancelling at end of subs- well, about two weeks before actually, and removing all dvds off my list before i send the old ones back, so that should be a failsafe. Oh, did I mention send the dvds back with proof of posting?!
They have had both my discs back now but have sent me a few emails like this ~
We’ve noticed your currently have no DVD titles in your rental list – the section of the site where you list the titles you would like to watch.
We want to send you DVDs as soon as possible, so how about checking out some of our recommendations below: :rolleyes:0 -
They are rubbish, was with screenselect before they were taken over by Lovefilm.
Am now trying to cancel, they have sent me wrong DVD's and take ages to replace when you send back.
In error I sent two DVD's back one with case and the other without, they now claim they have not recived this DVD. Have sent numerous emails but they don't understand the problem!
Avoid them like the plague0 -
