Also had tv series sent in wrong ordered and faulty discs, but alot better service with Lovefilm than previous Sainsburys dvd rental. Before merger could wait upto 2 weeks for a disc.
However did go to cancel my membership and they offered me 3 months free to stay! (thinking about it, it was within those 3 months they did merge with Lovefilm so probably wanted me to stay just to have an extra membership guarenteed to pass on)
Maybe if you threaten to leave because of the problems they might offer you a discount???:ABoots Tart in Training

Ive had same problem as TDODD. Tried to cancel within the stipulated 14 day free trail period but they went and sent me another DVD after then charged my account. Never again will I touch this lot.0

howalsh wrote:I've had probs too. Series sent out of order, ignoring priority lists, and worst of all, discs that dont work. Pretty shoddy really.
They have done it again this week. Waiting for the last disc of the last series of The West Wing, so what do they send? The next two low priority films in alphabetical order, ignoring 3 things at priority 1 & more at priority 2!
Madness!My views are irrelevant - censorship is alive & well!0 -
We've now gone elsewhere .... we too had problems with discs sent out of order, priority lists ignored and we're sure they even sent discs we had never asked for. Siince they took over Saiinsbury DVD rentals, new discs no longer seemed to be sent out as soon as the old discs had been returned either. It was so much better before LoveFilm took over Sainsbury DVDs.0

Funnily enough, I cancelled this morning and posted my dvds back today. A 3 for 1 offer as a previous customer, and I'm sorry to say the service is no better now than it was then.0

tdodd wrote:I signed up for a free 14 day trial on 14th November. The first DVDs were despatched on 15th and received on 16th. I was watching and returning all DVDs on the day received and always got replacements sent the same day that my returns were received back by Lovefilm. So on that score I cannot fault the service ay all.
However, I decided to cancel the trial and did so by phone (as you have to) on 25th November, 11 days after joining. I sent back my last DVD on the 25th and that was received on the 28th, 14 days after I joined and 13 days after they first despatched a DVD. Yet they have just charged £14.99 to my credit card for a full month, on the 28th, knowing full well that I had already cancelled my account and returned all DVDs. They refuse to refund me and I have had to raise a dispute with my credit card company.
I do have £13.50 pending in my Quidco account so in cash terms I haven't really lost out but I am unimpressed with their "14 day free trial", as in practice, allowing for postal delays, it is more like 10 days or less of useable service. Since at Xmas there is a higher risk of postal delays this means the 14 day trial is now probably only worth 7 days at best and if your last DVD gets back to them late, through no fault of your own, they will charge you for the next month.
i also had same problem and customer service centre were appalling!0 -
To be honest, even if i got a whole month free, i wouldn't take it. At the end of the day you get what you pay for, and there is NO such thing as a free lunch (or month's DVD rental!)
I am cancelling at end of subs- well, about two weeks before actually, and removing all dvds off my list before i send the old ones back, so that should be a failsafe. Oh, did I mention send the dvds back with proof of posting?!

I didn't find them too bad. About average. I've been with 4 services now.
Personally I've found Blockbuster the best, that being due to being able to get new releases the quickest.0 -

With tv series sent in the wrong order
Taking 5 days to send me another dvd from my list
Sending me split & scratched dvds
I will never ever use them again one my 3 for 1 offer is up in two weeks
Im going back to blockbusters they offer a far superior service imho!
Yes same experience here,as well as sending me discs I hadn't asked for.Am on the 3 disc package and regularly only get sent one with the other two "awaiting allocation" for several days despite having several tv series in a list of some 60discs.Also have had one particular film as my top priority for around 2months now and haven't had it yet.I would have cancelled weeks ago but they gave me 3months for 1 to come back.Strangely enough I previously cancelled with them for the same reasons.I guess they dont learn( I suppose the same could be said for me too)0 -
I complained about similar to all your experiences + I find a lot of their disks freeze during play (have checked on other machines) just 3 days ago. They ignored my bullet points and told me my account was in arrears as card had expired (not the case at all). I obviously questioned this and they apologised for the reply and admitted was their mistake, however after i remailed them straight back to try and get an answer to my original points and all is still quiet 2 days later. terrible service!:mad:0
