It's all the reclaimed charges. I've claimed from absolutely everybody and depleted my savings. Am trying a few of the challenges now - not to pay off debt but to build he savings back up.0

Well good luck to you with that - but to have no debt hanging around your neck must be wonderful? It's fantastic that you managed to reclaim charges, enough to be debt free (or thereabouts).
You first joined up in January didn't you? When you first joined, had you already started reclaiming charges? Or was it this site that got that particular ball rolling?
Did you ever think you would be in this position in just six months?
You're a very resourceful and determined person obviously - you must be very proud of yourself.Bank Balance: In the black for the moment.

Before I joined here there is no way on this earth I would have reclaimed charges. Thought about it long and hard before claiming off my first victim - Capital One. Once I was successful with them I targeted Halifax to the tune of nearly £3K, then Barclaycard, Northern Rock and HFC followed - and now I'm waiting on Welcome Finance (2 PPI's), Black Horse Finance and Mint.
Didn't think for one minute I'd get it sorted in 6 months but once I got the ball rolling there was no stopping me. My debt was never uncontrollable I was just miffed at the amount I had to pay out every month. Have learned a valuable lesson and have become absolutely obsessed with saving.
Your not doing so bad yourself, once that loan is paid off you'll be laughing every month with an extra £300.
We both should be proud of ourselves.0 -
Well it's so good to see your confidence grew after felling your first 'victim'!
I've got ages to go on my loan yet but I try not to think about it...just plod along with the repayments. I'd just love to get shot of the overdraft as it could open doors for me happiness wise regarding my job, but that's another story for another day.
I know what you mean about being miffed at the amount you have to pay out every month. When I was reading my ramblings earlier on today I stumbled across a post I made where I was forking out £800 a month or so on credit card repayments PLUS my loan AND servicing my overdraft!
Jeeeeeze I never wanna be back at that place.Bank Balance: In the black for the moment.

I've entered back into the weekly challenge this week for the first time in weeks/months!
I set myself £150 which I know is a lot but it's not an ordinary week as I am off to a wedding abroad on Thursday and I want to look & feel good and of course there are travel costs involved!
This was to include:
£10 on a pedicure
£25 on some other treatments
£16 on train fare
£50 on Euros
£8 on bus fares for the week
£5 or so on fresh food needed at the end of the week
£35 on some hair products
I've saved a bit on bus fares this week already and the hair products came in at £32.94 so, below budget. Hopefully the £150 will be absolutely maximum.
Next week should be much better.Bank Balance: In the black for the moment.

Quick update. I forgot I needed to buy a a wedding card, some wrapping paper and a new baby card this week too  but luckily got all three (nice stuff too) from a market stall for £1.75 which I had in my purse so I don't think it will bust the budget.
Also two good things: got my payslip and my pay rise kicked in this month which I had worked out at "x" amount....turns out I get £7 more. Not a fortune clearly but £7 more is £7 more eh?
Also, I won a quiz the other week on QuidCo so I ordered a Boots voucher.....logged in this morning to see something I did ages ago go credited which took me over 1000 points again so I now have 2 Boots vouchers on order which will keep me stocked up n shower gel & toothpaste etc for a while! Can't wait to get those and go bargain hunting in Boots!
Right I have to go now & I might not be back on here until Sunday as I am a way so have a good weekend all and I hope you have some debt busting days!Bank Balance: In the black for the moment.
