Had a good night's sleep and also got an email from a friend this morning which puts any worries I might have into perspective. So no more whining or worrying about that spending spree.
It was a conscious decision, it's not the end of the world and upwards and onwards we go. It's what I do today & tomorrow that now counts.Bank Balance: In the black for the moment.

Hi LA...that's a great positive response..just the way it should be as you say they plugged a hole in your wardrobe so nothing to confess as you can't walk around naked!!!
You are not a DFW fraud either and just prove you are human ..enjoy those purchases0 -
Off sick today with stomach problems and feeling pretty weak and pathetic. However - on the plus side at least it'll be a NSD!
My overdraft has shot up again however fear not, I didn't really spend £600 on a shopping spree! I paid out £394 yesterday to clear the Post Office credit card I had got (from QuidCo, if you remember) which had on my dental treatment, dress & shoes etc for the weddings and something else which slips my memory right now.
I also had to buy some DIY stuff for the house and some food!
Anyway the card has gone! The plastic itself was destroyed weeks ago so, that's dead & buried. I just need to write and ask them to close the account but I'll do that after I get the zero statement next month.
I organised the home insurance yesterday....we'd budgeted £200 for it but I managed to get it from Direct Line for £160 so hooray, a saving there. Boyfriend is giving me half towards it as well, this week.
Unfortunately I could not get the insurance via QuidCo as Direct Line are not listed on QuidCo at the moment due to technical problems - typical eh? All the other insurance companies on QuidCo were sniffy and didn't want to insure us because we were burgled in May 2006. (Well some of them would have insured us but for a lot more money.)
I've been looking at the news at all this flooding and really counting my blessings. The poor people out there being evacuated from their homes or, mopping up already (and might get flooded again) and of course, more importantly, those who have lost loved ones. It's terrible. It really puts things into perspective.
I seem to have a shopping habit that just won't quit, the overdraft will seemingly always be around (whilst I have the aforementioned shopping habit!) and there will always be something to pay for.
But when I read/hear stories about the floods and also I have been an avid reader of the "Things You've Done When You're Desperate" thread I give myself a mental slap and thank my lucky stars I am in a dry house, able to feed myself without resorting to drastic actions - and all the rest of it.
Feeling very grateful today.Bank Balance: In the black for the moment.

Hi LA, hope your feeling better. I know what you mean about the flooding. I'm really lucky and times like this I feel as my money worries are nothing compared to what some folk are going through. As you say, it puts things in perspective.
Take care and let us know if your feeling any better x0 -
Hi there you two. Thanks for your well wishes - and I do feel better now.
I hope you've both had good days?
I sat and read through a lot of my ramblings thread earlier....I was *so* positive when it started out! I had to smile at a lot of the stuff that's been said - and done!
One thing though....it'd be so nice to see Moozie again. I do hope she's OK.
PS: GirlRacer, your Mint card is coming down nicely isn't it?Bank Balance: In the black for the moment.

Am actually trying to reclaim £204 back off them, but they are fighting me tooth and nail at the moment. I'll hopefully win and then wave bye bye to them.
Glad your feeling better, as for the early positive posts - I think we all started out like that and then we lose the positive feeling when we realise what a hard bl00dy slog it is to become debt free.
Once your feeling better you'll start to feel much more positive, when your ill, everything gets you down.0 -
Hi LA..glad to see you are feeling a lot better.I miss Moozie too and minniespender....whatatwit is on the missing list as well...hope they are all ok!!!
They're great motivators these diaries aren't they?....great for a laugh and a bit of motivation especially when we're feeling a bit down we can re-read them and see how far we've really come.
It's so true those poor people caught up in the floods really does put our debts into perspective...love to anyone out there who's suffering at this moment...xxx0 -
lyndsayjane and verbatim are others I haven't seen for a while too.
And scaredycat & deliciosa! Blimey the list goes on the more you think about it!
G_R = good luck with your claim against MINT!So will you be debt free once MINT goes?
