Hello taxi & Moozie and anyone else who may have wandered in.
I am ok thanks taxi, just haven't really had a lot to say the last few days or so and have enjoyed just browsing through other people's posts and posting on them if I felt I had anything vaguely useful or encouraging to say....
Moozie hon! You don't have to stop talking and go away at all! The more comments, advice & encouragement the better as far as I am concerned. It is always nice to get someone else's views, perspective etc so you talk away as much as you like. "Mooooo"
By the way hon, I decided not to keep in my signature the cards that I had cleared because I want to now focus on current debt. Whilst I pat myself on the back and haven't forgotten (by any stretch of the imagination) what I have acheived so far, I still have a way to go and I need to concentrate on that or I might lose focus. Hope that makes sense.
Well what can I say seems I am here and probably should update.....
My overdraft I hope will not hit the £1200 mark before payday. Fingers crossed for that.
Sainsburys VISA should have a letter arriving on their Customer Service desk tomorrow instructing them to close the account and write to me to confirm it. I have told them I do not want to own a card again. So shall we take bets now on a set of credit card cheques arriving within two weeks then?
My £300 to Tesco VISA went out of bank as arranged today so I definitely have that £500 balance only now (only!). But I intend to pay that off after January pay day....I just can't wait I really can't. Oh to be credit card free is going to be wonderful. I am really looking forward to February pay day as I will not have to pay one penny to a damn credit card! :T I really can't remember a time when I had NO credit card bill at all and as I said, I've never *not* owned a CC since I was 18. February pay day will be monumental for me.
Yesterday I walked into town in the howling wind to pay £5 of spare change back into the bank. That's committment for you eh? Nasty weather and just £5 but it all helps to bring the OD down.
I have sold an item on EBAY today for £30.00 plus £5.50 postage. I really hope he pays by PayPal tonight or tomorrow as I really could do with that money coming to me ASAP. Shame I didn't make a bit more on the item as it is worth three times what it went for but hey that's EBAY for you and better £30 than the item still sitting in my cupboard I suppose.
I may list another couple of items on EBAY tomorrow as it is 10p listing day. That will keep me busy tomorrow evening for a while!
Not much else to say at the moment....just waiting patiently for pay day and definitely the following February pay day!Bank Balance: In the black for the moment.

Thanks taxi
Well when the cards & overdraft have gone I still have the albatross around my neck of my last consolidation loan  however things will feel a whole lot better without dishing out hundreds every month on CC payments and constantly plugging a big fat overdraft.
But I'm not actually out of the woods till July 2010.
Also, my mortgage fixed period runs out June 2007 so gonna have to remortgage and no doubt mortgage payment will go up each month as interest rates have risen since 2004.
I'm so glad I took the bull by the horns regarding the cards/overdraft though because I still had them when the mortgage goes up, I'd be.........well....fooked really!
By the way, I have added a few more bits of change to my dance ticket money box and now have: £15.20! (Ticket costs £22.50.) :TBank Balance: In the black for the moment.

There's no stopping you now....it's great...I'd forget about the loan as that's probably frontloaded...
But ...Don't know whether you thought of this...when you re-mortgage ...get a completely flexible mortgage where you can overpay as much as you want and I think the best ones are where the interest is calculated daily...then you'll end up mortgage free as well..this is what I plan to do..
Wow you're nearly there for that ticket...and you thought you couldn't afford it....go girl!!!0 -
Yes I am hoping to get a flexible mortgage or look into Abbey's capped mortgage which also allows for overpayments but not underpayments. It would be great to reduce the amount of time/amount left on the mortgage and no mistake!Bank Balance: In the black for the moment.

you shouldn't have any problems with that...can't wait till I'm at that stage0

Oh my God, in 2010 when that loan goes, if I could carry on paying that same amount off the mortgage that'd be flippin' GREAT!!!!
You've definitely got me thinking now........Bank Balance: In the black for the moment.

Moooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo!
That's good evening in cow talk, in case you didn't know
Pleasure reading the updates! I love the positiveness that's oozing out of this thread LA - long may it continue! :T
Only a few more weeks and bye bye credit card! What a brilliant position to be in. I bed the overdraft will get the thrashing of a lifetime after that as your full focus will be that and I know when you set your mind to it, there are results! I'll be watching with interest
I hope your buyer pays up tonight, the quicker the better! I find ebay is so hit and miss. I've listed clothes BNWT and din't sell (and I got lumbered with fees  ) and then I listed all my old, worn clothes and they went a treat
I really don't think your purchase should come out of the weekly budget. I mean you planned to get it depending on the sale so that's a whole different pot/arrangement. You are being so good, I think I am going to have to award you one of these :A
Mortgage overpayments on a regular basis....now there is something to aim for and the months/years will fly by, they always do!
Keep rambling, it's good for the soul!Leason learnt :beer:0 -
That's exactly what I'm going to do...my mortgage is only £328 but when I've paid this lot off I can afford at least £1000 p'm...so can't wait0

Well I've got this (or rather an ancestor of this), and you can actually overpay and knock your term down, or you can stuff the money into the offset account and *still* knock your term down - but with the facility to withdraw it all and spend it on hats..."Follow the money!" - Deepthroat (AKA William Mark Felt Sr - Associate Director of the FBI)
