I'm having a go for the first time this year...now clearing a corner of the jungle that I hope to turn into the veg area & found this - the leaves look like pics of strawberry leaves from my book but am I kdding myself? Is it a weed?
I'm not an expert, but it doesn't look quite right to me to be a strawberry, so I don't think it is.Freedom is not worth having if it does not include the freedom to make mistakes.0 -
My vote goes for wood avens. The stems look too long for strawberry, and there are more tiers of lesves on the stem. Strawberry leaves are more rounded, and are only at the end of the stem - except when growing runnes.
Wood avens seeds in to my garden - looks an important rosette of leaves, difficult to just pull out, and the silliest little flowers.
Strawberry roots are also quite distinctive - although I can't quite describe them! They make a thick bunch from the crown, and are straight and strong. It is never too late to become what you were always intended to be0 -
Like Serena says its a wood avens - Geum urbanum.0
