Am I missing something here??????The greater danger, for most of us, lies not in setting our aim too high and falling short; but in setting our aim too low and achieving our mark0

 But you have no idea how much KK9000 paid, what year or variant the car is.
Direct eyes to top of thread, read title.

I bought a 1997 Megane in 2004, it was a rubbish car really, but I only paid £1k for it, £4k for a 5-year-old Renault seems a bit excessive to me.0 -

Yep, the title of the thread :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:I like the thanks button, but ,please, an I agree button.
Will the grammar and spelling police respect I do make grammatical errors, and have carp spelling, no need to remind me.;)
Always expect the unexpected:eek:and then you won't be dissapointed0 -
Nice to see that not reading the thread properly doesn't stop people being opinionated.
OP, please pull out of the sale, it is an expensive Megane, one thing there is no shortage of is used Meganes hatchbacks, if the price you mention is for a diesel Megane Scenic then the price is about right.
For a run of the mill petrol 5 dr then I would expect to pay £1500 less, unless it is from a Renault main dealer, but I wouldn't buy used from a main dealer either.
Plenty of Meganes in Autotrader.0 -

Okay, I missed that bit.
But how can can anyone say that it was or wasn't value for money, without knowing which variant it is?The greater danger, for most of us, lies not in setting our aim too high and falling short; but in setting our aim too low and achieving our mark0 -

Was it the same variant as the OP's?The greater danger, for most of us, lies not in setting our aim too high and falling short; but in setting our aim too low and achieving our mark0 -

Then that was a bad tester. There is no way that any station will jeopardise their ticket, to save a few bob on fixing a wiper blade and a handbrake. If they are that stupid, then it serves them right, but it is in no way widespread. The greater danger, for most of us, lies not in setting our aim too high and falling short; but in setting our aim too low and achieving our mark0 -

No offence buddy, ordinarily youd be correct of any MOT station.... But an awful lot of people buy a 2nd hand car and totally ignore (or are oblivious to) any faults it may have, especially if the salesman says something like "oh that noise is because we changed the cambelt, it'll go away in 3 months time" (when the warranty has run out).
Then 12 months later the next MOT tester turns off the stereo and finds the wheels hanging off, the wipers broken, the exhaust knackered and the brakes shafted, it fails it's MOT and the owner is left unable to prove a damn thing about the selling garage.
The fact is, they rarely if ever get caught out.“I may not agree with you, but I will defend to the death your right to make an a** of yourself.”

Funnily enough the MOT station was about a mile away from the dealer - possibly MOT-by-phone :rotfl:
Wasn't just a wiper blade, the linkage itself was gubbed. Interestingly when I returned with the car they claimed from the warranty company - saving money on prep?0
