Barclaycard PPI - ticked box?

  • For all those considering going to the FOS, my advice is.. do it. 2 years ago I contacted Barclays who gave me several loan accounts which supposedly had PPI. Barclays paid on all but 1 of them saying it was so long ago (2000) that they had no evidence of it being mis-sold. Took this to the FOS and went through the normal procedure.. and waited. Barclays came back with an offer which at least confirmed they did in fact have details, so I rejected the offer. Barclays then said they would abide by FOS guidelines. After 18 months of waiting, Barclays finally paid over £13k.

To check that all loans had been dealt with I sent a SAR to Barclays which came back also showing PPI premiums on 2 Barclaycard accounts, so just sent off the forms for these, as I don't recall ever requesting PPI.

So stick to your guns and go to FOS, but be prepared to wait....
