ihavenomoney its worth buying the one i suggested if you need to cl;ean the metal rack trays all you do is put tray/racks in with liquid and it just falls off you have to shake it and add tiny bit of liquid in after x amout of time
i normally complain about every product i buy but i was bigtime shocked at the results

omg i paid £3.57 for oven pride the other day you get a bag to put the trays it i must say i was really really impresseed with the results my oven looked brand new

Oven pride is just a 12% caustic soda (sodium hydroxide) solution, you can buy caustic soda for a fraction of the price & make your own.

If you do choose to use caustic soda or products containing it then make sure you follow all the safety advice & store the products somewhere that children can't get near them as caustic soda can cause severe chemical burns.

Personally I use a safe, non toxic, biodegradeable citrus based product called Citra Clean to keep the oven like new, I cleaned up a neighbours barbecue for them with it a couple of weeks ago despite being well used but not being cleaned in over 3 years it was left looking like new. The same product is used to clean just about everything in the house it's just diluted at different rates to make different types of cleaning products. Although at around £10 per bottle it may seem expensive initially it can be diluted by as much as 100:1 to make a multi purpose surface cleaner spray which makes it very economical to buy. There is an info sheet with suggested dilution rates here:

Oooo I LOVE this thread! I have tried and tried to do mine and it's just not shifting!
I can scrub up the sleves/wire racks fine, as I put these in hot water and scrub away with those wire/metal scouring things and it's great, but the glass is terrible! I can't see into my oven when looking through the glass :/

Thanks :) Gonna buy some Oven Pride tomorrow :)

I have Cif...well, the cheaper version and it didn't help me :(
 Thank you to everyone!

I haven't thought to try using it on the glass, but the shelves of my oven go into a big bowl of warm water and then I drop in three or four denture cleaning tablets:D Leave to soak, and the muck just wipes away.

It's also good for soaking stained glassware clean so probably would work on the door glass.

I don't even have dentures: just the tabs which I learnt to use to clean demijohns when I used to make wine because they sterilise at the same time as cleaning.:)

  • I've been struggling with cleaning my oven too and had forgotten about Oven Pride so I will get some soon. Will it clean the walls and floor of the oven? I understand the shelves go in a bag but what about those bits that can't be removed?
