No the chip is on the bumper but its under the boot flap. Ominous I know...
Surely after only 10 days of ownership paint shouldnt be chipping? I only drive 10 min to and from work... although I am sure the dealer wont care ey!0 -

Is it on the exterior of the car though ie where a stone could hit it or is it the area which is actually covered by the tailgate and only visible when the tailgate is open?0 -
It is on the exterior, yes - but it is fairly high up the bumper, hence why I said its near the boot opening.
Is it likely that I wont be able to get this fixed under warranty? Because the car is white, it is constantly visible, I thought it was a mark when washing it earlier!0 -
Stone chips are a fact of life I'm afraid, not a warranty issue
I have a mysterious broken tail light on my < 2 month old car that I can only put down to stone chip damage(currently patched up with tape and coloured in red to make it semi-road legal :rotfl:)

Thanks Kilty, I am still gonna go and see if I can wrap the nice man who sold it to me round my finger! I just cant see how its happened where it is... If not, looks like I'll be shelling out my own money... or buying some tippex!!!0

I hope you have more luck than me catalunya, my Fiesta is still languishing at the Ford dealers after there was no one there yesterday that even new my car was sitting at the front of the showroom with no keys available.
If they ring me tomorrow (big if), I am going to take some advice from the above posters. I am going to ask them why they need to compound polish a car that has nothing wrong with it, then I was thinking independent paint specialist, but I don't think they'll accept this as it wouldn't be 'Ford Approved'. Watch this space!!
As regards your own car, you may have to get a touch up stick and very carefully touch the stone chip in, at least if it's the same colour it will take your eye off it and hopefully will not be noticable.

Well, the car was delivered back today with what looked like polish smeared about at random.
They advised a cutting and machine polishing treatment as the marks were from (an outside source?), but their valeters don't do it, so it would have to be a specialist who only comes in when needed and he is busy till after 3rd May.
My hubby rang the bodyshop and they recommended I just lightly T cut it myself. I will of course try this tomorrow and if it doesn't work we'll have to see what the specialist does.

Can you post pictures of the paintwork showing the problem?"You were only supposed to blow the bl**dy doors off!!"0

OP get your self over to http://www.detailingworld.co.uk/forum/index.php what they don't know about paint on there could be written on a pin head! But I would not be looking to basically sand off this stuff! I might use a clay bar to lift it. But maybe be it is a paint fault, you will get advise from there.0
