hi, my friend rents out their own house with an AST tenancy agreement. the most recent tenant took some items from the house when they left, and are unwilling to return them :mad: My friend is pursuing this formally through the TDS, however i think he should pursue this as theft. am i right in thinking this and if so,…

Chewmylegoff - thanks an intelligent reply. Re the landlord not paying for this said mattress, he still owns it according to the tenancy agreement, so who paid is irrelevant. I agree the police would probably not pursue as this would mean actually doing something....!!!!

I agree the deposit scheme is the best approach, but avoid TDS, run by a bunch of half wits in my opinion, else then pursue via the small claims courts.

Pasturesnew, I guess this is a possible solution, but on principle i think the T should be taken to task. But thats just me...:)
