Cheap(er) smart phone recommendation?

Hi, I'd be grateful for some pointers.
I would like a phone which allows me to take photos and post them to facebook, and check my e-mails. Ideally I'd like it to work on a wifi network as well as 3G. Oh, and it needs to make calls and texts :-)
I have an i-pod touch, so I don't need lots of apps etc, just the basics described above, and I don't really want to splash out the cost of an i-phone.
Any ideas/recommendations?
Many thanks
Daisy

Are you looking for a contract or PAYG or SIM Free and what do you mean by cheap? Sub £10, Sub £100??
Also what network are you currently on? Different networks have different phones nd you may need to budget extra to unlock a phone if it's not on your network.0 -
Hi, GJ, thanks for the quick reply! Are you looking for a contract or PAYG or SIM Free and what do you mean by cheap? Sub £10, Sub £100?? Also what network are you currently on?
I am on O2, and ideally I'd prefer to stay with them as most of my family is on O2 so we make good use of the free O2 to O2 calls (although I am not totally against changing networks if the deal was worth it).
I am currently on a Simplicity 30 day rolling contract. I don't have a problem with a contract, it's just that when my last contract expired they didn't have anything to tempt me at the time.
By cheap I meant 'cheaper than an i-phone'! Really I just want something fairly basic (in smart phone terms). I don't even know if such a thing exists!
In short, I am quite flexible, I just don't want to pay out lots of money for facilities that don't want or need.
Does this help?I'm a retired employment solicitor. Hopefully some of my comments might be useful, but they are only my opinion and not intended as legal advice.0 -
Orange Sanfransico gets very good reviews and well posted on here as a good cheap end Smartphone .

Thanks, that looks like the sort of thing I might be looking for.
Probably a stupid question, but is it possible to unlock it to run on O2 instead of Orange, as Orange coverage isn't very good where I am.
Or is there anything else around in this sort of bracket?

Orange San Franciscos are excellent value for money. £99.99 inc £10 free credit at Argos. You can buy a code for about a pound on Ebay to unlock it to any network. GiffGaff is a good value network than runs on O2 (£10 a month including internet).0

HTC Wildfire will be cheap soon as it's replacement is due next month.0

Why pay a pound for something easily available for free?MarkBargain wrote: »You can buy a code for about a pound on Ebay to unlock it to any network.0 -
If you have a Orange sim, or get a free one and register it, you can get the phone for £74.99 inc £10 top up, have a look on Hot UK Deals
