Good Morning all, (just) lovely day here in the Medway, sun shining and even some blue sky.Eldest DD just phoned to say she will pop down this afternoon for coffee, so I am going to whip up a Victoria sponge cake for her as its her favourite.Youngest DD is working today but it means that she will get a long week-end off next week which is good.
I have a little bit of ironing to do but not much so I may save that to do tonight whilst watching t.v.I have bought 4 eggs for my 4 grandsons for Easter they were two for £3.00 and what I will do is iron a fiver, and wrap it in cling film and put it inside their eggs so they have a little bit of pocket money to spend over the holidays. They get enough chocolate anyway so their eggs aren't big ones and they love to have a little bit of a suprise as they are never sure what I put in the eggs until they open them.Last year it was a £2.00 coin but with inflation I decided on a fiver each.Ben the eldest, will use it to go fishing with and the little ones will be able to buy a treat with theirs. They don't have pocket money as my DD is finding it a bit hard to streeetch the funds at the moment and her OH looks as though he may be getting made redundant during the summer so belts are being tightened already just in case.
But we will get through it just as we get through most things, adversity seems to make us all draw together even more .I hope everyone has a good week-end whatever you are doing
Take care all

Just having a quick break, been working quite hard on the uni assignments all morning
. The sun has come out now though
but it's not warm enough to sunbathe so I'm not that bothered! Put WM and laundry is on balcony drying now, nice little breeze out there.
Also spoken to my nan, she said my cousin raved about being taken out by me and my mum last night
.
Gonna make cuppa then get back to work, will stop for lunch bout 2pm

Tired-Mum - I would give it a good sniff - then if nothing bad would definitely eat it.

Afternoon All,
Late one for me today and didn't get on yesterday as the day went from bad to worse.
The latest car situation is that they are both now at the garage and we are without. The bigger car needs new something or other before brake pads can be fitted, I think its a caliper which will come to a grand total of £980:eek: and the other one will be towed home on Sunday morning by DSS and DH so that the mechanic can come to look at it. Any savings we have had will be totally wiped out. Both of us spent the evening worrying about how we are going to manage but we will get through it somehow. We have decided that the bigger car will be sold once my son has gone back to Oz and we will manage with the one that is needed for work. We will be selling and packing up then as we head towards next year and our plans to emigrate.
Anyway onwards and upwards, this morning has been spent cleaning the house from top to bottom and 2 lots of washing on the line. Had a chat with DS and he is now paying a contribution, not much but its a start. This afternoon we will get on with the bedroom we are getting ready for eldest sons visit, we have wallpaper left over from another room and a huge vat of magnolia for the walls. Anywhere else needing a spruce up will be magnolia too as I wont be buying anymore paint.
Tea tonight will be chicken and bacon leftover from last night (I couldn't eat I felt so sick worrying about money:o) and salad.
Hugs to those in need, Have a good Saturday all J x
JTA a couple of bargains, our local Mr T is selling off large chickens for £1.59 and B@Q selling rolls of insulation for £1 per roll, don't know if this is everywhere though.Started Self Managed DMP 10th May 2017.

Afternoon all. I hope everyone is enjoying the fab weather! We've had a good day, I endured Primarni this morning kitting out Chilld with vests and summer gear. Mrs B sneaked some new jeans and a top into the basket too....! Then we went off to do the food shop leaving Child and her cousin clothes shopping. Got home, Mrs B and Child decided to model their new clothes, and met on the landing in IDENTICAL new tops!!! :rotfl:Ha ha! They've agreed that they'll take it in turns to wear them!
The washing's on the line and another load in the machine, and am now looking online for ways to keep flies away from my rabbit. Off to the pub later to meet some friends, then pizza for tea. Car boot in the morning, then a BBQ tomorrow afternoon. A nice weekend!
Enjoy the sunshine all! :T0 -
DD came and enjoyed her cake and has taken it away with her for the family to finish off tonight.I also found a big bottle of Spry cooking oil in the cupboard that I don't need so she had that as well, saves her buying some. We swap bits and pieces as sometimes she will buy stuff for her family then they decide they don't like it or fancy it so it ends up in my stores, very little that I would turn away I'm afraid.
Just done the inventory for my freezer and I certainly won't need to go shopping until the end of the month now as I have found lots of bits I had forgotten about in the freezer. All nicely tidied up and neat now with a new up-to-date list attached to the outside.
Just going to go and put my feet up and watch a bit of catch-up t.v. and do some knitting.
Cheers chums

Afternoon all,
Lots of cloud here and we had some rain before I got up....not much but have only put washing out about an hour ago....however little it gets will help with drying, more in machine to put out in a bit. Stripped bed this morning, opened all windows and left it to 'air', must make it up again shortly as I have done this before and forgotten all about it until I was going to bed and I HATE having to make bed just before I get into it!
Dinner to-day will be last of shepherds pie for me (got 7 portions out of about 250g mince and mountains of veg and the last of the soy mince) and ham, potatoes and cabbage for OH, there will then be enough meat to feed us to-morrow, so happy with the way my meal planning is going.
Did 10 mins weeding on way back from clothes line....could do with 10 hours out there just weeding!
DD3 is expecting someone to come look at her house with a view to renting it....its a nice little house and they have it in great order so hope it works....she would not be looking forward to having to pay her rent in Oz and mortgage here, rent will not pay all mortgage but most so she can be a little more relaxed about her money in Oz. Still no visa so will have both her and bf here but can put up with that for a while!
Really need to bake something, might copy JackieO and make a Victoria sponge, but will need to do more to fill the oven....don't allow myself to put it on for one item....could use countertop one but it has been sprayed to clean and don't want to wait much longer. Also need to do outside of porch windows, won't take long, no idea why I don't just get on with it.
NPM....good luck with 'lump'....I had one appear like that years ago and it turned out to be just a sebaceous cyst, you know better than me that there are countless harmless options.
Julie...sorry to hear about your car news...never rains but it pours! Glad that you have had a positive chat with DS.
Really should go and do something manual....hugs to all in need or want of one, have a good weekend everybody.

Hello peeps.
Had a busy day, went to football with Ds2, DS1 came to watch too, and they got beaten both games
The second game, the boys in the other team were very rough, and the Ref (who was one of their fathers  ) did nothing!!!! If it had been at home, and one of our dads was ref'ing, he would have stopped the game and called order. One of our boys has come home injured, and his dad lost the plot a bit for what was a nasty body check, said the "F word" and the ref threatened to abandon the game because of his bad language!! He shouldn't have sworn, but his boy got really hurt, and the ref did nothing - he had the cheek to give his team the free kick for that one! Sorry, rant over, but five of our boys got badly tackled / challeneged without them winning the ball, my DS even got kicked in the jaw! These are eight year old children, btw.
This afternoon I went for a lovely drive to one of the posh suburbs and picked up the bed I bought for DS1 from Gumtree. The people were very nice and friendly and the husband was so helpful getting it into the car - he did the bulk of the carrying :A £50 for a loft type bed with the desk underneat, its very solid and well made, I am very happy, will go to Ikea for a mattress for him this week, - he's not moving in until the Easter weekend as he's worried about sleeping on his own and wants to wait until the holiday so that if he can't sleep he won't be tired at school, the wee soul.
Well that's about it for me, sorry for the verbal diahorreah
I am off to wash the dishes, out a washing on and then get back to DS1's bedroom. Have a good day everyone (well what's left of it!)

(PS Julie are you sure they quoted that for a caliper, I know all cars are different, but I bought one for mine for about £40 and my wee local guy fitted it for £20.)It's what is inside your head that matters in life - not what's outside your window
