Well we will be wearing fleeces on the way as we will be leaving at 7am for a 4 hour journey to the airport so I guess we will use those if we are cold when we get there.

Anywhere you recommend we go or do whilst there?

High factor sun cream, and either after sun or a decent body moisturiser and face cream to stop your skin drying out.

Flip flops are cheap and handy to wear casually round the hotel. Easy to slip on if you're by the pool and need the loo or something from the room, and it keeps your sandals nice for going out in.
Here I go again on my own....
  • Take more sunscreen that you think that you need - on one of our trips, we had to use local sunscreen and Mrs Cat got quite badly burnt as it did not have the same level of protection.

Also, take a 4 pack of soft toilet roll with you, your bottom will love you forever ! Visiting a public loo in Egypt can be an 'ahem' memorable tease.gifexperience. If you don't have your own 'bum comforter' with you, you will find someone inside the bogs who will sell you [STRIKE]sandpaper[/STRIKE] luxurious Egyptian loo roll for a few pence.

p.s. as soon as you can, get a few quid changed into really low denomonation Egyptian money for you to leave as tips/thank yous for people. It's called baksheesh and you'll come across it quite a lot, DON'T BE INTIMIDATED by someone holding out there hand to you after they have done you a service - its just expected that you pay someone something after they have done something for you - but all that's expected is a few pence. If your going on a package holiday, check with your guide what is the going rate for baksheesh.

Finally, try and make it to the pyramids for the sound and light show at night - it's great stuff.

Some of my best holidays have been to Egypt - enjoy !thumbsup.gif

I usually leave a photocopy of passport and travel insurance with a family member at home. Just in case of loss/theft.

When I go away I usually create a simple text web page with flight and hotel details, contact numbers for credit cards, travel insurance, passport office and anything else which would be useful if my things were lost or stolen. Make sure you don't put anything unwise there like credit card numbers. The page can be put up on free web space or as an isolated orphan page (not linked to other pages) on an existing site. For a few pence in an internet cafe or on your hotel's computer you can gather any information you need (as long as you can remember the url!).
