scoultas: I had the same experience when I cancelled.

Wait until nearer 11pm, then in your account page, click on the cancellation link which appears in a column on the lefthandside. After that, it should be pretty painless (!)

Thanks for the advice - finally tried it at about 7:30 in the morning and got the automated closure.

I actually closed my account with 1 DVD shipped back to them but not yet received, so it got marked as 'Pending Closure'.

However, I was relieved to see today they've confirmed my account closure.

That's twice I've used them and closed my account without problems, so it is possible - so long as you're very careful to follow their rules!

My account actually ran out on the 2nd January, but they're open for so few days between then and now that closing now is 1 full business week's notice - so be warned if your special offer period is nearing it's end!

    Hi Purple:

Nah, no expert me -- posters like Edna Buckett on the main Lovefilm thread are the best:

And Martin's added to the thread, too.

Re your experience; Gawd I wish I could say something positive, yet can't get any further than scoultas's accurate summary of the reality of dealing with this company:

so long as you're very careful to follow their rules!

Sad to say, and as you suspect, the accidental re-activation of your account may well have done just that. Though if it hasn't, then lucky ol' you! But if it has, well, best to look on the bright side and figure it's not a total loss: the £15 Boots voucher you've been promised can sort-of cover the £9.95p outlay -- so that's another four DVDs rented, plus a fiver's 'balance' on the Boots payment. . .

    No consolation though. Sorry!
