I also am an agent for provident and myself and my colleagues are furious at these new measures introduced to try and 'control' arrears. Apparently we have to be made accountable for the arrears on our books. We are already penalized for this as we are paid a lower rate of commission on customers who fall behind with their payments whether through genuine hardship or not. Also why should we be made accountable for someone losing their job or any other change in circumstances that prevent them being able to pay their weekly rate. Yes we are rewarded sometimes for attracting new business so maybe there should be some sort of 'claw back' when these accounts go 'bad' but under the new scheme its irrelevant whether we put the customer on or not. Any advice from other agents who have any info on how we can oppose this would be greatfully appreciated.

I am an agent too and so far I am over £100 down (3 weeks), that is a lot of money giving the price of petrol etc...
I have some really good customers and some really s**t ones who dont care that I am begging them for £2 so I dont get fined £10... I feel like putting the £2 in rather than loose £10 but this is illegal and why should I pay off someone elses debt!!!! Provident need a rethink or they are going to loose a lost of agents!:cry:

There is a website agentssayno dot co dot uk
Thanks to all who post!

Well, if the worst does happen and no ones comes to collect your payment you should put it away somewhere safe and wait until a collector calls.

It'll be good practice for you. It's lack of financial planning that had you go running to Provident in the first place.

i will think you will find you nothing about me and why i went to provident, its lack of finding a proper job that had you go running to provident in the first place is what i could say, to many people like you in this world, i cant wait to see this so called "strike" happen, i will be the first to laugh at you when it goes wrong.

Wayne2786 please go and read ALL of the comments before commenting as you clearly know nothing about this. If you are that bothered about no-one collecting, ring your local branch and pay by card. could you to specify what you mean by "proper job" as im not sure what your definition of "proper job" means. Also if all of us agents get a "proper job" then who will collect your payments? Employers? No wayne we are self employed, please read carefully before commenting all this information is there for you. But im glad to see you would be annoyed if your agent doesnt collect, you can then go to Head Office, report no agent has collected and that would once again show what an impact their new policies are having on the customers and agents. You will find the number in the front of your payment book.

i am expressing my view, you are talking about going on stike from providing the service you provide.

if you lived in london and your tube driver went on strike, would you express your opinion? yes you would!

if you were going on holiday and the airport staff went on strike would you express your opinion? yes you would!

Tell me what good it will do by either not collecting money one day or not giving out money one day its what i said on my post above, like petrol stations the big guys at the top will always win, all the posters on here complaining about your jobs, have you ALL gone to the top and complained to them? no i guess you havent.

if you dont like your jobs find new one's, and dont tell me there are no jobs about, in my area alone i could tell you of so many jobs, they may be cleaning, or mcdonalds for instance but a jobs a job, if you dont like yours then move on, no one is holding a gun to your head saying you have to continue collecting money!

and Garsen, if all these agents didnt collect (although as stated above apparently its just about giving out loans not collecting) do you not think its going to make it worse on you?

No-one is saying they dont like their job are they. We all love our jobs but to lose up to £100 per week out of our wages for actually doing our job (collecting money, issuing loans) is what this is about, i repeat........please read the comments carefully. so working in McDonalds collecting money from the customers who use their services is a "Proper Job" bur working for provident collecting money from customers who use their services is not a "Proper Job". And no it will not make it worse for us it will lose the shareholders a bit of pocket money, just like we're losing a lot of money on a weekly basis.

And Wayne "no job and run out of savings i have to miss 1 or 2 payments, this now reflects on my experian credit report.".......... it also cost your agent some of their wages, you had to miss payments through no fault of your own so the agent gets fined is that fair?

but what my point is saying is why should you punish the people you collect from by not collecting? yes i could save it till the next week, yes i could pay by card, but im not going to.

I compleatly understand that if people are not paying im sure that could be a pain in the backside for you. are you not going to lose more money by not collecting?

why would it not make things worse, if you do not go out and collect like your supposed to is that not breaking your contract?

Going on "strike" is surely just going to make things worse, why not do a petition? or all of you instead of expressing your hatred at these new terms on this forum start expressing them at the head office?

as my above post not once have i said its fair that you should lose your wage/commission due to cirumstances way beyond your control, unless you pay it out of your own pocket.

my point is you shouldnt stop collecting from people who pay you on time and in full.

you would be annoyed if your bank went on strike and didnt pay you one day!
