I understand the problems that can be caused by failed flashing
Any help would be appreciated
Thanks

The link Mike gave was to a software download called 'LiveUpdate'. It seems that once installed it checks to see if there is a newer firmware available and then downloads and installs automatically. Presumably it will detect the TSSTCorp revision and will update if it's kosher. Seems risk-free to me.

@Mike
I tried the liveupdate firmware but it didn't seem to the the drive on my Firewire port, But I did find this site and downloaded the Samsung firmware from there and it picked up the drive and when I check firmware it showed it as having 03 which is already the latest.
I picked another bare bone drive up yesterday from a computer fair and checked that same firmware TSSTCorp but with 02 firmware so I updated that to o3.

I have upgraded the firmware, but this still does not work.
I have phoned Gericom today and they are sending me an address to send it back to......
It doesnt write ISOs, DVDs or Audio CDs, so its pretty useless. I think the problem is between the controller in the gericom box and the CD writer, as I plugged the writer into a spare IDE plug and it worked fine. In the enclosure, it *ucks up. Tried it on 4 computers running various OSs and none of them work properly with it.0
