Moral dilemma - using car seats

What if they just simply cannot afford seats? They aren't cheap!
i read a post here only yesterday where a lady had been seen strapping the year old child in a 3+ booster seat because she hadn't the money for a proper seat.. a fine would be just what they needed.. the children might not get food either then!
sorry but i don't agree you cannot put a price on safety.
if you drive with children then it is up to you to ensure at all times that they seated in a safe enviroment.0 -

Hang on.. i never said you could put a price on it.. i said the OP doesn't know the financial circumstances of the family.. so no you don't agree with me because you misread my meaning!
It was posted as an alterntive view rather than the slating the family will get.. which I think they duly deserve.. same as the woman at school who put a 6 month old baby in a forward facing seatLB moment 10/06 Debt Free date 6/6/14Hope to be debt free until the day I dieMortgage-free Wannabee (05/08/30)6/6/14 £72,454.65 (5.65% int.)08/12/2023 £33602.00 (4.81% int.)0 -
i'm another one who thinks if they cant afford the seats then they shouldnt be in the car

I have to disagree with you on this!0 -

a child is not going to die if they are not given proper food but they could die if they were in an accident whilst not in a proper car seat
report them !

Larger than mine?
In some ways yes, if i remember rightly you have 10 children ? This family have just had baby number 7 BUT they are aged between 6 weeks and 9 years old. (i think i read yours are a little older ? not that it matters
) they all travel in a 5 seater car, last trip baby was on mums lap. 1 toddler in a booster with a back, the rest were god knows where. Bow Ties ARE cool "Just because you are offended, doesnt mean you are right" Ricky Gervais

it all depends on the definition of 'proper food' doesn't it - I don't see a macdonalds as proper food so therefore if they get given a macdonalds, chances are they ain't gonna die0 -
Eek! That's awful, isn't it?
I'm all for folks having big families when they can afford to look after them and do what's right for them. There are plenty of families out there who would love to have baby no.4 but know they would need to upgrade their car to transport their brood safely and wouldn't be able to make that jump on top of housing a 4th child.
It's a tough one, isn't it? If they go out regularly on the same times and dates then it's tempting to hand an anonymous note into the traffic cops division. If you think it would stpo them, that is.:(
It's not the 70s any more, when two families would pile into one Morris traveller and go off for a day trip... we know better now, there's just no excuse for it.Member of the first Mortgage Free in 3 challenge, no.19

I shall be argumentative and say how did we all manage years back without car seats?
Yes accidents can happen.
I will say though, that I always used a car seat:heartpulsOnce a Flylady, always a Flylady:heartpuls0
