AOL £75+ leaving charge

Options
I spoke to AOL to cancel my internet which I have had with them for over 10 years last night and was told I had taken a new contract last April for 18 months and had to buy my way out at over £75 basically nearly the full £14.99 a month for the remaining 6 months. firstly I didnt take a new contract or make any changes for over 3 years. I put a comment on my facebook status and a friend said her mum received a £75 charge following cancelling her contract and she had been with them since dial up as well. Has anyone else had this issue know how to get around it?:mad:

  • I've had different issues with AOL and am now very suspicious of anything they tell me. Would suggest you go through their complaints procedure and ask them to send you a copy of your contract.

Ask them to prove you took out a new contract. It is up to them to do so via either a letter or recorded call.
