Is anybody doing anything OS for the Royal Wedding?

Nobody around here is having a street party so I'm going to do a 'little something' for my two boys in the garden.
I was thinking of decorating the gazebo, making streamers on canes to wave/ put along the garden path, make coloured cupcakes....
So will anyone else be doing anything? Or does anyone have any ideas please?

Aw that sounds lovely! Perhaps you could have a 'royal' menu with things like coronation chicken and kir royale (for you... blackcurrant and lemonade for them... perhaps you could call it kiddie royale!)
It would be fun to make a day of it and it'll make it a more memorable occasion for your boys too.
I haven't got any plans of yet but would quite like to plan something for the day. Hope you get lots more good ideas0 -
We're planning something similar in our garden as nothing is happening locally to celebrate the day. My daughter was a similar age to my grandson when it it was Charles and Diana's wedding and we had a fantastic "street" party in my Mum's village at that time but doesn't seem to be the same interest this time. My daughter already has the flags and bunting ready to bring round and I have balloons and a bubble maker. We're planning an old style afternoon tea party so let's hope the weather holds!Be nice to each other

:TI have been invited to my friend's house on the 29th. We are going to have a champagne wedding tea, all who are invited are bringing some food:- cucumber sandwiches; vol-e-vents; cupcakes; little fruit tarts etc. There will be champagne (for the adults) in the form of Lambrini!! All guests have to wear an outfit for a wedding - including hat! (obviously adapting items we already have - not spending any money) It will be brill and a day to remember!
Hope everyone else has a great day.:)When the 5 red lights go out ............ I'm off racing!

I hadn't thought of it tbh. I like the idea of coronation chicken. I wonder if what they'll be eating on the day will be published...could be hilarious for fans to follow. Love the idea of getting dressed up with hats etc. My guess is we'll be gardening on the day though!0

we are not actually doing anything on the day but i expect we will watch it,though the day before my girls school are having a royal wedding lunch everyone has been asked to dress red white and blue and they will have a little street/playground lunch party quite sweet i thought:xmastree:Is loving life right now,yes I am a soppy fool who believes in the simple things in life :xmastree:0

2 none entities = non event !0

I sort of agree about the nonentities. Well, they're nonentities to me. I expect I'll do for this one what I did for the last "Royal Wedding". That is, find a pub without a telly and spend the afternoon there.0

Have to agree with you B & T, but used to seeing you more in the landlord's thread giving excellent advice, more than hereNow thanks to Tommix & Queen Bear, now Lady Westy of Woodpecker0

I'm often on his part of the forum getting equally excellent advice.0

There's a tradition of street parties in this part of the country - I remembr some great ones from my childhood - but where I live at the moment is relatively childfree and anyway we're on a hill so the 'tables in the street' route won't work!
I'm thinking of joining forces with my parents and making whoopee at their house for a family party. Mum's VE day party was much enjoyed & as they approach their 80s we don't have much time left so do mad things. I've unearthed my plastic union jacks from last time!I can cook and sew, make flowers grow.0
