Would posters please keep everyone up to speed with the best prices they have seen for compost?
This is the time a lot of folk will be rushing out to stock up with Easter break on the way so list your good deals here and lets see what supplier comes out on top!!!
Yesterday i was after some veggie growing compost for tomatoes etc and Asda had 47L grow bags for £2.50 each.
Homebase has 33L ones for £1.99.
Are there any multi deals out there????

wickes 4x75l bags for £13
lidl 40l for £1.99 (it was rubbish last year so presume it will be rubbish this year)
local garden centre has tunstalls reduced peat formula with added john innes 3x60l £10 (bit too woody for seed sowing but ok for potting on, lumps of bark and stones)
would like a good deal for about 2 cubic metres of compost/topsoil mix if anyone knows any good deals.0 -
Last year Mole valley had a good deal on compost, haven't had the chance to visit this year to check.
@misskool, somethings it worth ringing skip hire firms as some sell compost/topsoil by the tonne (the builder sand bags or even by truckload) which works out cheaper than garden centres and diy sheds.0 -
Roys down the road from where i live has 60L bags of compost 4 for £10 at the mo

Woodcote Garden Centre - Westland Multipurpose 75l x3 bags for £9. They have a drive-thru too. :cool:0

ASDA has a slightly better offer than the 47 litres for £2.50 (if you want 4 of them then £10 = 188 litres)
They also have some 70 litres bags of Multi-Compost for £4 each - or 3 for £10
So £10 buys you 210 litres

Oh great I have just used bag of this to plant my sunflower and some herbs in tubs is it really that rubbish, I am new to this and thought compost was pretty much all the same. oops0 -
I bought Homebase this year, 4 x 60L multipurpose bags for the price of 3 (about £12 I think), but I must say the quality is much better than the past two years.
..and in previous years when I'd carted a large trolley down to the Garden Centre end and lugged heavy bags off the pile, I realised this year there was a pile of compost bags outside the front door - go to the till and say which ones you want, they have the barcodes on a separate bit of paper - and then ask for a fit bod to lug them into your boot for you.0 -

Wyevale garden centres (I know, can be expensive) have 3 60l bags if j Arthur bowers multi purpose for £12; but if you're a member of their garden club (free membership and you collect points as you spend) you get an extra bag free. So 240l for £12.0
