Didn't realise buyer interest was declining. But confidence overall certainly seems to be.
The latest report from the CML shows an increase in transactions
http://www.cml.org.uk/cml/media/press/2899Increases in loans to both first-time buyers and home movers contributed to the boost to house purchase lending. First-time buyers made the largest contribution with the 12,400 loans (worth £1.4 billion) advanced in February amounting to a 13% increase in volume (8% in value) from January but an 11% decrease in volume (13% in value) from February 2010. The number of loans advanced to home movers increased by 6% (with the value unchanged) compared to January, but were also down from the same month last year, 12% by volume and 14% by value.:wall:
What we've got here is....... failure to communicate.
Some men you just can't reach.

That doesn't help much.
Declining, as far as I understand it, is a measure of something that, when most recently measured, reduced in value.
Surely that would depend on the context the word is used.
"A car speeding at 80 miles an hours declines to 70 mile while passing a speed camera."
It's very clear that the speed is declining (reduced in value), however they are still travelling at a substantial speed.
You could say that CPI is declining (from 4.4% to 4%), yet inflation is still in effect affecting the economies disposable income.:wall:

I expected as much
funny that declining by 50% and 6% are still defined as declining but that's not important
I agree that something that is declining might need to be examined in context, rather than just saying something like "inflation is declining, so that is good news".30 Year Challenge : To be 30 years older. Equity : Don't know, don't care much. Savings : That's asking for ridicule.0 -

you're right about inflation declining, it's like saying that unemployment is falling - but it isn't...0 -
well that was the whole point to question the Devon blokes interpretation of declining. you agree with me - where is that confused smiley thing???

No need to be confused about me agreeing with you chucky. I'm not here to disagree with everything my "enemies" type. If you, Hamish or any other of those that I might often disagree with, type something that I do agree with, I'll say it. I think that's a decent way to conduct oneself on an open forum. I would hope others would do the same with me.30 Year Challenge : To be 30 years older. Equity : Don't know, don't care much. Savings : That's asking for ridicule.0 -

Well maybe you and chucks should write to the BBC for clarification.
I'm sure they will take your request for clarification very seriously.
CC RIC's in on the e-mail too. Tell them the error of their ways, and the fact that "declining" is too difficult a context to grasp. Please elaborate.0 -

btw, Devon is in the South West right?DEMAND for property in the South-West was up last month, according to the Royal Institute of Chartered Surveyors.0 -
so you still don't understand that decline can be 50% or 6% - never mind you're not exactly the sharpest tool in the box, but we knew that already though...
btw, Devon is in the South West right?
the irony of it all.
Would it make any difference if I said I understand perfectly? Would it make any difference if I asked you to explain why you assume I don't know that? I take it I'd still get an insult either way.
And I'm not sure what's ironic about the last comment. What's that line got to do with me? I have no idea what tangent your off on, while sipping on your pint of bitter.0 -
