They actually can't. Those that have been caught out have either been naive or greedy (as a whole). Either using a clubcard or taking items back and making themselves obvious - there are exceptions, of trouts being extra vigilant.

The case earlier was of a guy, who had been collared, I believe, because he had used a clubcard. Then when the store became suspicious it was easy to 'accuse him of abuse'.

Sadly they also noticed on his receipt that his previous voucher, had been used on a different email address. If all vouchers were £20 exactly, it would have been impossible to detect. However if they check an email address and you have a voucher for £18.88 but it isn't on your email - eyebrows will be raised.

Well I shall tell them that I don't know the email address if asked as am not computer savvy and that my OH does it for me, in fact he even switches the computer on for me and logs into the forums for me:rotfl:and types whatever I want to post;)
    Beware!!!! Glitching is addictive:rotfl:

Well this evening went to big local Mr T, still no Ladies razors.. the wife will be really upset when she gets in from work!

Anyways got to the till, young lad, quite chatty student, took the voucher didnt check the numbers on receipt. I told him to sign it.

His reply nearly knocked me off my feet!....

'Oh no we dont sign those a few of us reprint our vouchers and use them again!!!!':eek:

The voucher was for a new start all I bought was a DTD negative item and was worried about it

I walked out the store totally shocked, got in the car and signed my own receipt with used written all over it.

Just goes to show Mr T cannot train his employees what to do!
Clearly they [Tesco] found it hard to make a promise they couldn't keep." Asda Spokesperson.

I say Tesco found it EASY to make promises it still cannot keep.

Can someone explain how Tesco can trace the voucher trail?
If you pay by cash and don't use a CC,all they have is the trail left by that particular email addy don't they?
How can they compare it to previous email addresses?
Sorry if I'm missing the obvious here?

They can't tell where the previous voucher was issued to, DTD was just unlucky in that they could see it wasn't issued to her. However, there are 101 answers that could be given to explain this (no offence DTDsearcher)

There is almost no way they could figure out which email address the previous one was issued to as there are only 2000 possible amounts the vouchers could be for, so a search for the amount would reveal loads of potentials.

    Washed the OHs phone yesterday
Dry it as much as possible, put it in a bag of rice for a day or two. The rice absorbs the moisture.

It works. Saved 2 of my phones doing that. :T

Sorry for the off topic post.
