    What about a bit of compassion here guys! We all know how hard it is with the current economic climate - someone is trying to sell their house...why not just let the pictures be taken and ask to see them before they are published. Everyone has a Tv, computer etc but if you're that bothered then cover them up! Stop being so awkward! Not everything is about making thikngs difficult for others. Who knows, maybe you helping the LL out will help you when you need to ask him/her for some flexibility.

    It's a business. As the consumer of a business service, you don't have to have "compassion" for the LL.

    A bit of give and take never does any harm though.

    Honestly - I wouldn't let them, as you have been broken into before, I understand how cautious you are.

    Having been recently broken into (after having given notice on my flat) I have told the landlord that I will not accept any viewings as i just don't feel comfortable with other people in my house now.

    A break in isn't just about the stuff, this about how you feel and once your rented house has been broken into it changes how you feel about letting people see your possessions - how logical your thinking is dosn't come into it.

    You have a right to quiet enjoyment of your flat, and it is entirely up to you what you feel comfortable with.

    Of course. But the OP, having been burgled, isn't comfortable with this. So that's the LL's tough luck.

    has the landlord generally been reasonable to you, responsive to any problems etc.

    if yes then i think the decent thing would be to compromise for the photos, certainly won't hurt when it comes time to end your lease.

    I never understand comments about telling agents or LLs they can't take photos or they can't do inspections apart from between 08.15 and 08.17 etc. If they've been reasonable during your tenancy then what's wrong with being reasonable back. Don't forget if a tenant is being a genuine pain when moving out it could easily be a black mark in the future.

    Just imagine a reference saying pays up on time but very awkward when moving out. Just because agents or LLs don't have a legal right to do something doesn't mean we should block it for no good reason. Why can't people just work together, the world revolves much nicer when they do. My LL and I have had an excellent relationship for over 3 years because neither of us are unreasonable.
    It's someone else's fault.

    Depend if the value having a reference off your current landlord or not.

    We had exactly the same situation and refused. If they already have pictures from when it was on the market before why not use them???

    Surely it also means the landlord won't have to pay for new pictures to be taken?!

    In our case they did use the pictures they had before and it wasn't a problem....We also did the viewings for our landlord as we didn't want the agent in and out like a yo yo....
