RBS Charges

Hi All,
Was looking for some advice on bank charges i've been receiving on my RBS account.
Basically I haven't used it for around 6 months and my intention was to transfer £50 per month in to cover my overdraft (£1300) interest and also pay off some of the actual overdraft itself also however, problem is that 1 of the payments was late causing the O/D to exceed its limit and generally the issue has snowballed.
At the moment the balance is £1350 however I am being charged £96 this month and subsequently will be every month until I can bring it back to its limit (which I am genuinely unable to do at the moment and wouldn't be until June).
I have read about claiming hardship via the ombusdman (therefore proving that the charges caused further hardship) however am unsure about my next steps, does anyone have any advice on this issue.

Welcome to MSE.
First off, I would have a read at the MSE guide on reclaiming bank charges:-
http://www.moneysavingexpert.com/reclaim/bank-charges
I'd also suggest that either of the below boards are more appropriate than Budgeting & Bank Accounts (the one you've posted on) for getting help. Perhaps a mod can move this thread?
Reclaim Bank & Credit Card Charges
Debt-Free Wannabe
Remember there's also (amongst others) the Citizens Advice Bureau (Scotland) and the Consumer Credit Counselling Service (CCCS).Anything I post is my opinion, so from time to time I may be wrong. I try to provide answers based in fact, however I don't know everything, so (like all posters on MSE), take what I say with a pinch of salt.0 -

Whilst over the limit you'll be charged £6 per day. I'd suggest calling your branch and asking for the number for the 'triage' who may be able to come to an arrangement about it with you. It's unlikely the branch themselves will be able to do a deal.0
