Car Warranty Question
Hi all
My husband is in the process of getting a 2nd hand car. The sneaky car salesman told him he was throwing in 2 year warranty as part of the deal (which sold it for us) but on signing credit agreement we noticed something wasn't quite right. After speaking to them it turns out the warranty hasn't been "thrown in" as a sweetner but he'd added it in and failed to give us the option to purchase it as an extra. We feel he was very misleading. Also we noticed gap insurance had been added on without that even being mentioned to us and we've never had any information given on the insurance. At least he mentioned the warranty.
I feel we have been misled by him saying it was part of the deal he was giving us. I want to cancel the warranty...can I do so?? I hope I am legally allowed to as it was an optional extra that was never presented to us as such. Can I cancel the insurance??
I feel he should have given us 2 price options...1 with added insurance and warranty and 1 without.
Also my husband has signed the credit agreement but the car is still in the showroom. The deal was done over the phone but papers signed in a local showroom. Can we cancel??
Thanks all

What was the price of the car prior to any deals/sweeteners etc...?0
-
£6291. He gave us £700 for old car (which is fair) and said he'd give us 2 year warranty, 1 years road tax and £20 petrol.0
-
So when you went to the dealership/garage to view the car, the price in the screen was £6291?0

so what was the final price?Be Alert..........Britain needs lerts.0

Online the car was £6291. He gave us £700 for part exchange and we paid £500 so got it for £5091. Does the price have an impact on him adding insurance without our knowledge or lying about giving us 2 years warranty as part of the deal?? Also the car is not 3 years old until Dec so would it still have manufacturers warranty or is that only with 1st owner?0

What was the final price inc the xtras?Be Alert..........Britain needs lerts.0

Without us paying the £500 deposit the car was £5591. With us adding the deposit it was £5091. £20 petrol and 1 year road tax0

SO YOU ARE GETTING THE CAR INC WARRANTY AND INSURANCE AND TAX FOR £6291 less your car so £5591. WHATS WRONG THERE? THE INS AND WARRANTY ARE FREE ARENT THEY?Be Alert..........Britain needs lerts.0

£700 (part ex) + £500 (deposit) + £5091 (balance) equals £6291. Therefore you have paid what it was advertised for and according to the paperwork it includes 2 years warranty and gap insurance. Therefore you have not paid extra for this it is included in the price in the first place.IT Consultant in the utilities industry specialising in the retail electricity market.

No...if you read my reply to you I state that the car is £5591 plus 1 year road tax and £20 petrol. Thats what he's given us but originally he said he'd give us 2 years warranty included.
He's then added on the warranty (£499 extra) and insurance (£10 per month extra) so thats over and above the cost of the car.
Do you know if I can cancel the warranty and insurance or not? Thats my question, not how much I paid for the car!0
