Been looking at railway lines. Which one is worth going on

    Llanberis - seems nice.

snowdon railway - seems much better but also mention Llanberis station.

Are these both similar? but snowdon is much more expensive.

Also seen cambrian lines which is further away south though but with this one you have dayrover. Would they have good scenic views? better than llanberis?

Snowdon Railway goes up to the top of the mountain & Llanberis Lake railway goes along Lake Padarn - about an hours trip and much cheaper!

I've never been up Snowdon with the train & I'm gonna take my 9 yr old this summer. Gonna try & blag a very cheap ticket seeing I'm local & hope I see a worker I know! My late nan had the best idea.....she used to sit with her friends during the summer months on the platform & if they had any spare seats she use to get on free! Did this for many many yrs!
  • Stayed at the Victoria legacy in Llanberis last August and although a bit tatty the food was fine and the location is fantastic. has a restaurant and and also a bar that does snacks, lots of walkers use it and it is friendly not posh

thanks everyone for all your replies. Il check them out

Im limited to travelodge as dont want to spend too much on accomodation as most are per person per night. As average prices are £40 per person per night so would total £160 for two adults. Max i want to spend is £80.

Booked at travelodge. Now time to plan my 3 days as 2 nights booked. Top of the list id say is Llanberis railway. Would love and prefer Snowden Railway but too expensive.

    Few stand out.

Aber falls - seems like you have to park your car and walk it there. How long does it take to get there? reccomended with a 4 year old? is it steep? resting places along the way?

Great omre car - wow. Id love to go on that. beautiful views from the pics.

Aber falls is ok and with little one too. Its a bit of a walk with resting places along the route. (prams and wheelchairs(pushed by a carer) do stuggle) I would avoid and ive pushed both along the path.
Time your visit on a good day after a few days rain and its stunning a great photo oppotunity , Same for swallow falls and fairy glen. Plan afull day To Llandudno IMO you have good shopping area with your retailers Debenams Bhs Next etc. Great victorian shops selling your touristy holiday stuff which i love and good food shops pubs and cafes. Then there is the Orme (still giggle when you think of the swear words we wrote in rocks on our school trip)The Orme has many interesting place to visit copper mines cable cars good visitors shop and cafe. But the drive(or walk) up and down is the best IMO on a clear day you can see for miles.

You say plan a full day at Llandudno. Apart from shopping as do that enough where I am as live near mannchester so always shopping. What other attractions would you reccommend. Something not too expensive as will be spending for Llanbris railway and cable car.

What is swallow falls like? better than aber falls? do you have to walk there like aber falls? if so what distance?

    There's more about Llandudno here - https://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/discussion/2999728

The pier's a must do if the weather's good and admission is free.
The fridge is empty, the walls are damp, there's no hot water
And I look like a tramp and tramps like us
Baby we were born to walk
