Study a different story can just about see the floor!! We store boxes of papers etc in there but boiler leaked before xmas and now we need to lay new carpet (which is currently in our bedroom!) but as it could do with a lick of paint we are waiting for DH to be off work in May to blitz and clear the room paint, lay carpet. So not much point spending more time in here than neccessary just basics done hoover and tidy areas I use regularly.

And guess what kitchen dining room still clean and tidy. I am determined not to let them revert back to state they were in before. Clutter is moved before it gets a chance to settle!!
Dreading tomorrow the girls room is a nightmare:eek: can just about see the floor for carp;) Also we have a spare room that isn't covered by any other day - its a huge playroom with only just a bit more floor visible than the girls bedroom. Thank goodness DS room is clean just needs hoover and dust, he doesn't collect anything, he just keeps the playroom in a permanent mess:rotfl:Bless him.
Thanks to MSE savings we got to go to Disneyworld Florida.

Quick in and out cos I've been v. busy all week. BUT I have a Poll (I know, me, me, me!) to those savvy HR hiring type persons on this thread.

I am applying for a newly advertised job that is the duplicate of one I applied for last year but didn't get. I was told at the time that I was an extremely close second and this statement was reinforced when I bumped into one of the interviewers a couple of months ago.

It is within the organisation for which I work and is advertised as "internal applicants only". I am well qualified for the job. The job I'm currently doing (simply because I was offered it!) is 3 grades lower than the one I'm reapplying for and is one which I'm well over qualified for it but which I do because, hey, it's a job!

The Poll is, what do I put on the application form for "reason for leaving last job"

    a) Because I'm bored to tears and there's nothing to do
    b) The increased salary will help my financial situation
    c) While I really enjoy the job I'm doing, I would like a more challenging role within the organisation
    d) I feel my skills are not being utilised to the best of my ability
    e) Having spent some time working at grass roots level within the organisation, I feel I am now in an excellent position to utilise that knowledge, and my inherent skills, in a different area of the organisation
    f) ..........

Please fill in the dots at f) for me!

I would be inclined to say something like 'looking to progress/further my career' although I like e) ;) I tend to keep things as simple as possible!

Given I'll be 54 this year - the idea of "career progression" is a bit of a non sequitur given I was a high-flyer in a previous life....
although I like e) ;) I tend to keep things as simple as possible!

Thanks - e) has one vote...

Soappie, in my professional recruiter opinion please develop the themes in E, it builds on the impression you gave them last year. Politically A, D and to a lesser extent C, however accurate, will come back and bite you on the bum if things go wrong and you remain in your current role and are later put at risk of redundancy for example. However much the info should not be shared, it will be. You really enjoy working for the organisation but are keen to contribute more is the safe but sensible option. They can read your form for themselves and know you are capable of far more. They will be worrying that the new role is still a long way below your capabilities and you can't afford to re-inforce that impression. It also shows that you know how to be tactful and political. Inexperienced recruiters often look for things that match their snap judgement. Think back to the feedback as to why you were second last time and try and addresss and issues, ask for a copy of the interview notes maybe?

ETA - I like Maxonians idea, it addresses some of the stereotypical age related concerns that exist regardless of what legislation says otherwise!

ETA2 - also if you do go down the want to develop further route give some thought to what you have done to add value to the current role - saved money/reformed processes/negotiated change/developed phenomenal skills at minesweeper if you are anything like me
